Full Job Description Job Function Summary:
Involves the development and implementation of policies, procedures, standards and protocols for quality organ or islet cell transplant patient and donor care. Includes the establishment of mechanisms to monitor the quality of transplant care in conjunction with the hospital wide plan and ensures compliance with applicable accrediting agencies and regulatory standards. Involves interdisciplinary patient care from a team of experts who represent medical disciplines as well as support services. Generic Scope Spends the majority of time (50% or more) achieving organizational objectives through the coordinated achievements of subordinate staff. Establishes departmental goals and objectives, functions with autonomy. Manages the accountability and stewardship of human, financial, and often physical resources in compliance with departmental and organizational goals and objectives. Ensures subordinate supervisors and professionals adhere to defined internal controls. Manages systems and procedures to protect departmental assets. Custom Scope This role has primary responsibility for program development, people management and clinical operations for the Liver Transplant Service at UCSF Health. The Liver Transplant Manager is responsible for clinical, human resource and quality outcomes for the Adult and Pediatric Liver Transplant programs. The manager will actively oversee the clinical operations of all phases of liver transplant including referral, evaluation, waitlist management, and medical management of recipients and living donors perioperatively and post-transplant. Working closely with Medical & Surgical Directors and Director of Clinical Operations, the manager will develop standards of care to ensure high-quality, cost-effective delivery of care and spearhead innovative projects for program improvements. A primary responsibility of the liver transplant manager is people leadership and staff development. The manager will be responsible for hiring, onboarding and retaining staff. The Manager identifies and develops organizational talent and embraces continuous learning of self and others. The manager will ensure that they, the staff and the program remain survey ready for all transplant related regulatory surveys. Critical to this position, the manager will stay up to date with clinical informatics optimizations and will implement changes to workflows that result from optimizations to the EMR (EPIC). The manager will ensure standard work is performed by all staff and will develop and modify workflows and standard work as needed. Utilizing Lean methodology, the manager will be responsible for assessing workflows to maximize access, productivity and patient and staff satisfaction. The manager will respond to all patient satisfaction concerns and will develop and implement opportunities for programmatic improvement. The Manager collaborates with Medical Director, Surgical Director, director of clinical operations, executive director and other transplant managers to advance quality strategies, maximize access to liver transplant and enable programmatic growth. The manager will ensure a positive professional work environment, facilitate timeliness of services, and enhance patient and staff satisfaction. The Manager oversees all aspects of clinical services including human resources, quality, access, standards of care, workflows and standard work, staff engagement, and patient satisfaction. UCSF Liver Transplant program is one of the nation's largest transplant programs, performing over 190 liver transplants annually. The liver transplant program is comprised of several distinct phases: referral, evaluation waitlist, inpatient, pediatrics and post-transplant. The manager will have direct oversight over the staff for all of these phases.
