Job Description

General Purpose Provide support and training to MDS Coordinators to ensure proper assessment and treatment of residents in nursing homes, in accordance with state and federal standards. Essential Duties Conduct monthly Regional MDS meetings for training and CMI development. Assist facilities with their clinical, MDS, dietary, social services, and regulatory policies and related education. Monitor and assist with RAC audits received from Insurance, State, or CMS. Develop regional tracking and trending reports for clinical metrics regarding CMS 5-star rating. Assist facilities in improving 5-star rating in all categories. Provide oversight and direction to the MDS department. Conduct visits to facilities to assess and train clinical staff. Create action plans as needed to facilitate growth and development. Attend regional meetings and provide clinical insight as requested by the RVP. Assist facilities in their clinical risk management efforts. Assist facility defense attorneys as needed with lawsuits, depositions, reports, and document production. Supervisory Requirements Provide oversight and direction to the MDS department and assist with the overall supervision and management of regional MDS staff. Qualification Education and/or Experience Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN) or equivalent Accredited Nursing Program Degree. Language Skills Ability to read technical procedures and policy manuals. Effectively present information and respond to questions from leadership and employees. Mathematical Skills Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. Reasoning Ability Ability to solve practical problems and interpret a variety of instructions. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations Professional License must remain active and in good standing at all times with the State Board of Nursing. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be proficient in the Microsoft Suite products. Physical Demands The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Prolonged use of a desktop or laptop computer. Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, talk, read, or hear. Frequent use of office-related equipment, including copier/scanner/fax, telephone, and calculator. Travel by auto or airline may be required.
