COORDINATOR

EDUCATION STUDENT BEHAVIORAL SUPPORT THE POSITION
Under the supervision of the Director of Special Education, the Coordinator of Special Education, Student Behavioral Support, oversees the District's Student Behavioral Health Support Team, including but not limited to, Tiered Behavioral Support Program.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES
The duties listed are typical, but not exclusive: Oversee and support the District's Crisis Management Team. Assist in the implementation of state and federal laws to maintain district compliance. Maintain knowledge of current laws and regulations pertaining to individuals with exceptional needs; may be assigned to prepare complaint, mediation, and due process materials. Participate as a member of IEP teams as appropriate. Support staff that provides intensive counseling services for both students and parents. Perform other related duties as assigned. Participate in the evaluation of personnel as delegated by Director and/or as requested by principals. Monitor the case management for all students in residential placement. Monitor the case management for all students attending non-public schools. Support staff in the development and monitoring of transition plans for students who will return to district programs. Provide additional support for existing district programs; SDC/ED. Coordinate assessments for students who are being considered for residential placement. Work with Student Behavioral Health Team to develop and utilize monitoring assessment tools for evaluating effectiveness of Non-Public School placements for students. Work with Behavioral Health office staff to support the Behavioral Health Support Team. Work with Behavioral Health office staff and Support Team in tracking and ensuring that MAA/LEA billing is completed. Work with Behavioral Health Support Team in planning trainings in the areas of FAA/BIP's. Work with Behavioral Health Support Team that provides support at school sites in the area of Positive Behavior Intervention Support. Work with the Behavioral Health Support Team in the expansion of the Positive Behavior Intervention Supports program throughout the District. Create annual reports, present reports to District level administration on current issues within the Student Behavioral Health Support program. Develop improved awareness and communication between parents, community partner agencies, and school districts regarding educationally based wrap-around services. Coordinate with the Behavioral Health Team and provide technical assistance in school implementation of the Functional Behavioral Assessment and Behavior Support Plan.
QUALIFICATIONS GUIDE
Knowledge of:
All areas of elementary and secondary curriculum and recent educational research in the education of individuals with exceptional needs. Current laws and regulations pertaining to individuals with exceptional needs. Current laws and regulations related to providing school based Mental Health services.
Ability to:
Develop and coordinate programs. Negotiate and resolve conflicts and demonstrate strong interpersonal skills. Deal effectively with parents, teachers, administrators, and students. Maintain high standards of professionalism. Organize and manage time effectively. Work both collaboratively and independently. Demonstrate leadership and organizational skills.
Training, Education and Experience:
Valid Special Education Credential, Clinical Services Credential, Health Services Credential, or School Psychologist Credential. Five (5) years of successful experience in special education. An advanced degree in special education is preferred. Experience or license in the area of Mental Health services, MFT, or LCSW, is desired. BCBA is preferred. Valid California Administrative Credential.
