Overview:
We are seeking a knowledgeable and compassionate Referral & Authorization Coordinator to join our care team. This position plays a vital role in coordinating infusion authorizations, verifying insurance benefits, and ensuring patients fully understand their financial responsibility prior to receiving care. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in healthcare coordination with a focus on insurance benefit verification and patient financial counseling. Overtime on Saturdays is required from January through March , while still emphasizing that the position is typically 40 hours per week.
Key Responsibilities:
Receive, review, and process orders for infusion/injection services Obtain insurance authorizations and ensure all payer requirements are met Verify and clearly explain patient insurance benefits, including deductibles, co-insurance, and out-of-pocket maximums Communicate patient financial responsibility in a clear, compassionate, and professional manner Coordinate appointment scheduling between patients, providers, and infusion centers Document all communications and benefit information accurately in the EMR Act as a liaison between referring offices, insurance companies, and internal departments Participate in cross-training to support other administrative functions and team coverage as needed
Required Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent 2+ years of experience in insurance verification and obtaining benefits and authorizations in a medical office setting Proven experience obtaining and explaining insurance benefits —including deductible, co-insurance, and out-of-pocket costs—to patients Familiarity with commercial insurance plans, Medicare, and Medicaid Strong working knowledge of EMR systems and Microsoft Office Suite Excellent communication and customer service skills High attention to detail, accuracy, and confidentiality
