May 13, 2026 Position Summary The Shelter Healthcare Supervisor oversees the daily operations of the shelter veterinary clinic, ensuring high standards of animal care, staff performance, and operational efficiency. This leadership role is responsible for supervising clinic staff, maintaining workflow for exams and surgeries, managing inventory and supplies, ensuring compliance with controlled substance regulations, and supporting training and development of both staff and volunteers. Working in close collaboration with the Shelter Veterinarian, this position plays a key role in developing and maintaining clinical protocols and standard operating procedures (SOPs). The Supervisor also ensures accurate medical record keeping and contributes to budget oversight, scheduling, and emergency preparedness. This position requires strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills, and reports directly to the Director of Operations. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Manage scheduling, assignment, and overall success of shelter clinic staff. Performs or assists with euthanasia when needed. Ensure proper training, usage and maintenance of clinic software including PetPoint. Maintains inventories and completes ordering of supplies and equipment and ensures that appropriate quantities of all supplies are on hand for Shelter Clinic operations. Maintains flow of exams and surgeries for shelter pets. Ensures the effectiveness of the department's programs and protocols, working jointly with the Shelter Veterinarian. Work with the Shelter Veterinarian to ensure all clinic procedures are accurately reflected in SOPs. Assure oxygen is being delivered in a timely manner. Work with the Volunteer Manager to ensure proper training of all clinic volunteers. Monitor and ensure compliance with all laws pertaining to controlled drugs and rabies management. Responsible for controlled substance licensing, storage, logging and use for the Shelter. Be available to work weekend and evening hours in the event of an emergency. Report to the Director of Operations regarding financials, medical records, and other items as requested. Good attendance is required.
Job Qualifications Education and Experience:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) Previous animal welfare and clinic experience is necessary Registered Veterinary Technician credentials preferred

Interpersonal skills and leadership qualities Enthusiastic, dedicated team player Ability to respectfully communicate with other team members Excellent computer and software skills, including Office 365 and the ability learn new software programs as necessary Strong organizational skills Can work independently Experience with PetPoint a plus Working Conditions Office and animal shelter environment Potential exposure to high noise levels and zoonotic diseases Occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds Frequent use of computers and telephones, including walkie-talkies Frequent use of chemicals and disinfectant
Pay:
$25.00 - $28.00 per hour
