The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of managed care, medical office procedures, and dental insurance processes. This role is vital in ensuring accurate insurance verification, claims processing, and compliance with healthcare regulations such as HIPAA. Responsibilities Verify patient insurance coverage and benefits accurately prior to appointments, utilizing knowledge of managed care policies and insurance databases. Review and process dental insurance claims efficiently, ensuring correct CPT (Current Procedural Terminology) coding, ICD (International Classification of Diseases) coding, including ICD-9 and ICD-10, for accurate billing. Maintain comprehensive medical records related to dental procedures while adhering to HIPAA regulations to protect patient confidentiality. Communicate effectively with insurance companies to resolve claim denials or discrepancies promptly. Assist patients with understanding their insurance benefits, coverage limitations, and out-of-pocket responsibilities. Collaborate with the dental team to ensure proper documentation of medical terminology and coding for all procedures performed. Stay updated on changes in insurance policies, coding standards, and healthcare regulations to ensure ongoing compliance and optimal reimbursement. Experience Prior experience working in a medical or dental office environment with a focus on insurance verification and claims processing. Strong knowledge of managed care systems, medical terminology, and medical records management. Familiarity with HIPAA compliance standards and confidentiality protocols within healthcare settings. Experience with CPT coding, ICD coding (ICD-9 and ICD-10), and medical billing practices. Proven ability to handle insurance verification processes efficiently in a fast-paced office environment. Excellent organizational skills combined with effective communication abilities to coordinate between patients, providers, and insurance companies.
