The individual will be responsible for overseeing and optimizing the financial performance of our revenue cycle processes. The primary focus is maximizing revenue collection, minimizing payment denials, improving operational efficiency, and ensuring compliance with applicable regulations. Key Responsibilities Billing & Revenue Cycle Management Oversee daily billing operations for Medicaid and private insurance claims, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with payer and regulatory requirements Manage the full billing cycle, including charge entry, claim submission, payment posting, adjustments, denials, and appeals Serve as the primary Electronic Health Record (CareLogic) EMR billing expert, ensuring proper configuration, workflows, and reporting Monitor accounts receivable aging and implement strategies to improve cash flow and reduce denials Ensure compliance with Medicaid regulations, managed care requirements, and contractual payer guidelines Supervision & Team Leadership Supervise, train, and support two Billing Associates, including task assignment, performance management, and professional development Establish clear workflows, internal controls, and productivity standards for the billing team Serve as a resource for resolving complex billing issues and payer inquiries Collaboration & Reporting Reports to Director of Finance Work closely with clinical, compliance, and finance teams to ensure services are properly authorized, documented, and billed Prepare regular billing, revenue, and aging reports for finance leadership Support audits, site visits, and payer reviews related to billing and reimbursement Process Improvement & Compliance Identify opportunities to improve billing processes, efficiency, and accuracy Stay current on changes in Medicaid policies, CPT/HCPCS coding, and behavioral health billing requirements Ensure billing practices align with nonprofit, healthcare, and grant-funded program standards Qualifications Required Minimum 3-5 years of behavioral health billing experience, including Medicaid and private insurance Prior experience supervising or leading billing staff Strong understanding of behavioral health billing codes, authorizations, and payer rules Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills Familiarity with state Medicaid programs and managed care organizations Preferred Experience in a nonprofit or community mental health setting Hands-on experience with CareLogic EMR (preferred) Associate's or Bachelor's degree in healthcare administration, finance, or a related field Core Competencies Attention to detail and accuracy Strong communication and interpersonal skills Ability to balance productivity with mission-driven service delivery Collaborative leadership style Why Join Us This role offers the opportunity to play a critical behind-the-scenes role in ensuring children and families receive access to essential mental health services.
