About Nephrology Associates, P.A. Nephrology Associates, P.A. is the largest single specialty practice caring for patients with kidney disease and hypertension in the State of Delaware and Cecil County, MD. Established in 1974, Nephrology Associates has earned the trust of patients and the respect of the local medical community for nearly five decades. Our board-certified nephrologists and mid-level providers are experts in the management of hypertension, chronic kidney disease, acute renal failure, end-stage renal disease, kidney transplantation, kidney stones, and other kidney-related disorders. Position Summary The Patient Care Coordinator plays a critical role in providing exceptional patient care and ensures efficient operation of the office. This position requires excellent customer service skills, the ability to multi-task, and offer a high level of attention to detail. The Patient Care Coordinator must be familiar with medical terminology and EMR. Key Responsibilities To perform in this position successfully, an individual must be able to perform each key responsibility satisfactorily. Greet patients when they arrive with a friendly demeanor. Collect and verify patient demographics and insurance information. Schedule, cancel and reschedule patient appointments. Print out electronic orders for patients. Submit prior authorization requests. Scan and upload documents to the patient's electronic medical record. Handle incoming and outgoing patient and vendor calls on a multi-line phone system. Optimize patient satisfaction through excellent customer service skills. Collect copays and balance payments. Receive and sort incoming and outgoing office mail. Review discharge information and schedule follow up appointments during check out. Maintain confidentiality of all patient records in accordance with HIPPA regulation.
Education and Experience Requirements Minimum Education:
High School Diploma or equivalent required
Minimum Experience:
1 year of experience in a physician's office or health care setting.
Preferred Certifications:
Certified Medical Assistant & CPR Certification Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities General knowledge of nursing and health care terminology. Experience with MS Office Suite and Electronic medical records (EMR) Excellent patient care skills. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with patients, coworkers, and healthcare professionals. Ability to work independently but also collaboratively in a team environment. Excellent organizational and time management skills. Ability to multi-task and work at a fast pace. Excellent critical thinking abilities to work effectively under pressure in unexpected situations. Criminal background investigation and drug testing required. Physical Requirements Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. May require periods of walking and standing. Able to carry up to 10lbs frequently, and 20lbs occasionally. Able to bend, stoop, and reach occasionally. Able to effectively hear and verbally communicate with patients, answering phones, and coordinating with other healthcare professionals.
