Job Description

The School District of Lee County is seeking a Mental Health Service Coordinator who will coordinate and facilitate mental health services that comply with the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School (MSDHS) Public Safety Act (SB 7026) through planning, facilitation, implementation, and monitoring of protocols and programs to address mental/behavioral health issues for students in a supportive teaching and learning environment
Minimum Qualifications:
Master's degree with certification in mental health counseling, social work, or related field. Four (4) years of progressively responsible and knowledgeable experience that includes management or supervision of mental/behavioral health professionals and/or programs. Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) or Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) from the Florida Department of Health. Valid Florida certification to practice as a school counselor, social worker, or psychologist.
Essential Job Functions:
Plan, facilitate, and monitor District implementation, administration, and compliance regarding the MSDHS Public Safety Act (SB 7026). Facilitate collaborative working relationships and communications with local agencies and resources providing mental and behavioral health services, interventions, and support; facilitate and coordinate mental and behavioral health services and support agreements. Plan and coordinate training and implementation of Youth Mental Health First Aid or other Florida Department of Education mental health training for staff as required in Florida State Statute. Support the coordination of students entering and exiting mental and behavioral health recovery centers and programs; ensure schools effectively monitor the reintegration process into school-based activities and functions. Implement the communication system and protocols between contracted mental and behavioral health facilities and schools to ensure student and family needs are identified and addressed. Assist schools in identifying and adopting the most successful prevention, intervention, and support strategies to address the specific needs of each individual campus. Plan, develop, and implement staff development on mental/behavioral health and co-occurring disorders/conditions among student populations. Provide technical support to schools and communities on mental and behavioral health services and programming; receive and facilitate timely and effective responses to inquiries/concerns. Perform Medicaid administrative claims reimbursable activities as directed in accordance with Chapter 3 of the federally approved School District Administrative Claiming (SDAC) Guide.
