Job Description

Summary of Responsibilities:
The DME Fitter is responsible for fitting patients with prescribed orthopedic braces and other durable medical equipment. This role involves direct patient interaction, equipment management, and coordination with clinical and administrative teams to ensure proper use, documentation, and billing of DME.
Key Duties:
Fit and educate patients on orthopedic braces and other DME. Obtain authorization, collecting payments, Provide professional customer service via phone and in-person. Resolve patient technical issues and ensure proper equipment usage. Measure and fit patients with off-the-shelf orthopedic braces and devices. Educate patients on the proper use, care, and maintenance of DME. Ensure comfort, safety, and effectiveness of fit devices. Measure to fit custom fabricated braces Train employees
Equipment Management:
Select, order, deliver, and install DME such as walkers, crutches, commodes, cold therapy units, and CPM devices. Test and maintain equipment to ensure proper functionality. Provide training on equipment use to patients and staff. Inventory Control, Review Invoices, PAR Levels, Run reports, work with BO and BREG rep on unpaid claims
Documentation & Compliance:
Complete and submit patient paperwork for billing and claims processing. Maintain confidentiality of patient and company information. Follow CDC and company guidelines for safety and compliance.
Communication & Coordination:
Collaborate with doctors, nurses, and facility staff. Use marketing tools to support brand awareness (in some roles). Maintain accurate patient records and follow-up procedures. Product dispensement reports in Vision and Athena billing summary.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent. Preferred knowledge in anatomy, kinesiology, physiology, or orthopedics. Strong organizational and multitasking skills. Excellent communication and customer service abilities. Computer literacy (Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook; Google Docs) EHR- Athena Preferred. Authorizations with insurance background preferred. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Traveling to satellite clinics
Skills:
Strong communication and organizational skills. Knowledge of DME protocols and insurance processes.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to drive, stand, sit, climb stairs. Ability to lift greater than 50 lbs
