Role Overview The Lab Support Staff Coordinator plays a key leadership role in coordinating the daily operations of assigned laboratory sections. This position ensures smooth workflow, oversees administrative and technical tasks, and provides critical support to both staff and clinical partners. This role is ideal for candidates with prior coordination or lead experience who thrive in a fast-paced clinical environment. Key Responsibilities Prioritize and delegate daily technical and administrative responsibilities Develop staffing plans and oversee scheduling, timekeeping, and payroll functions Act as a preceptor for new hires and facilitate department in-services Monitor and maintain adequate supply levels Participate in regulatory surveys and ensure compliance standards are met Coordinate the collection, receiving, and processing of inpatient and outpatient specimens Ensure compliance with testing and specimen processing requirements Communicate with nursing staff regarding specimen requirements Refer specimens to outside laboratories as needed Interact with physicians, clients, and staff regarding referral lab testing Support patient registration workflows and insurance-related processes as needed Perform phlebotomy procedures (if applicable) Perform other duties as assigned Qualifications Certification & Licensure Required within 1 year of hire: Phlebotomy Certification (ASCP, ASPT, or AMT) OR BayCare Client Service Classes (3 approved CBTs + 1 approved class) Client Service classes are acceptable only for roles with no expectation of performing phlebotomy.
