Seeking a Veterinary Patient Care Coordinator Coastal Paws Veterinary Hospital is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic individual to fill our patient care coordinator position. This dynamic position directly supports our veterinarian and our technical staff to help ensure smooth workflow, prompt client care and communication. The Veterinary Patient Care Coordinator is responsible for overseeing the patient care experience, supporting efficient clinical workflow, directing and assisting veterinary technical staff, managing medical inventory, and serving as the hospital's expert on the practice management software, Shepherd. This position combines advanced clinical expertise with operational leadership to ensure exceptional patient care, client communication, team development, and hospital efficiency. The ideal candidate is an experienced veterinary technician with strong leadership abilities, exceptional organizational skills, and a passion for continuous improvement in patient care, technology utilization, and team development. Job Responsibilities Work directly with the veterinarian(s) to support efficient daily patient care and medical communication. Monitor and ensure prompt response to client messages, phone calls, emails, and treatment-related inquiries. Track laboratory submissions and results; communicate findings to the doctor and assist in timely follow-up with clients. Maintain accurate and complete medical records, including medical charting, treatment updates, diagnostics, and patient communications. Coordinate patient care information between doctors, technicians, reception staff, and other hospital team members to ensure continuity of care. Ensure urgent medical concerns, abnormal lab results, and client questions are brought to the doctor's attention promptly. Support client education by reinforcing doctor recommendations, treatment instructions, medications, and follow-up care plans. Help maintain hospital efficiency by prioritizing tasks, managing communication flow, and facilitating teamwork among staff. Monitor outstanding diagnostics, callbacks, refill requests, and pending medical items to ensure completion. Uphold confidentiality, professionalism, compassion, and excellent customer service in all client and patient interactions. Manage inventory and ordering Qualifications Required Credentialed Veterinary Technician (CVT, LVT, or RVT) preferred Practice management experience or certification preferred Minimum 5 years of veterinary clinical experience Minimum 2 years in a lead veterinary technician, supervisor, or leadership role preferred. Advanced knowledge of anesthesia, dentistry, laboratory procedures, nursing care, and treatment protocols. Experience with veterinary practice management software, particularly Shepherd a huge plus. Experience managing inventory and vendor relationships. Physical Requirements Ability to lift up to 50 pounds. Ability to stand, walk, bend, and kneel for extended periods. Ability to safely restrain animals of varying sizes and temperaments.
Pay:
