Job Description
Director of Behavioral Health (Full-Time) A Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) located in north-central Miami Dade is seeking a bold, visionary Director of Behavioral Health to lead its behavioral health programs and drive integrated, whole-person care across our community. This role is ideal for an experienced clinical leader who is passionate about mental health equity, committed to serving children, adolescents, and adults facing complex challenges, and ready to build and sustain a high-performing behavioral health team. We are a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) that believes behavioral health is inseparable from overall wellness. We are committed to integrating mental health, substance use treatment, and primary care to serve the whole person, not just the presenting diagnosis. Our behavioral health programs span outpatient mental health, substance abuse treatment, targeted case management, residential services, and evidence-based family and youth programs including Too Good for Drugs and Nurturing Parenting.What You Would Do:
As Director of Behavioral Health, you will be the strategic and operational leader of our behavioral health division, setting the vision, building the team, and ensuring every program delivers high-quality, compliant, and compassionate care. You won't just be managing programs, you'll be shaping a culture of clinical excellence and advocating for the mental wellness of the communities we serve.Program Leadership & Operations:
Oversee the daily operations of mental health, substance abuse, targeted case management, residential services (HOS and STFC), and parenting programs. Provide oversight of all referral and intake operations and coordinate seamless transitions to other services. Monitor caseload assignments and staffing patterns to ensure appropriate service levels and client outcomes. Collaborate closely with the Chief Medical Officer to integrate behavioral health services within the primary care setting.Compliance & Quality Improvement:
Ensure compliance with all funding, accreditation, licensing, and credentialing standards, including FQHC regulations and contractual stipulations. Develop, update, and implement policies and procedures in alignment with regulatory and accreditation requirements. Ensure clinical privileging requirements are met for all licensed independent providers per the health center's Privileging Policy. Assist in the implementation and maintenance of Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) initiatives and organizational goals.Staff Supervision & Development:
Provide direct supervision to clinical supervisors and certified substance abuse treatment staff. Deliver consistent, constructive performance feedback and corrective action as needed. Plan, organize, and present in-service trainings for staff and foster parents to strengthen clinical competency. Foster a team culture grounded in accountability, growth, and mission-driven service.Who We're Looking For:
Master's Degree in Social Work, Mental Health Counseling, or a related Behavioral Health Science field.Active licensure required:
LCSW, LMHC, or equivalent. Minimum 5 years of experience in chemical dependency and/or behavioral health leadership preferred. Experience in healthcare policy, community health, and human services. Knowledge of Medicaid/Medicare requirements and regulatory/credentialing standards. Proven ability to lead and develop clinical teams in a fast-paced, community-based environment. Strong verbal and written communication skills, including presentation and report writing ability. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and electronic health record systems (TIER or equivalent). Ability to balance competing priorities, exercise independent judgment, and maintain confidentiality. Valid driver's license, current auto insurance, and access to a reliable vehicle.Why Join Us:
