Multi-line phone systems Full Job Description Overview We are seeking a dedicated and highly organized Surgical/Obstetrical Coordinator to join our healthcare team in Pembroke Pines, FL. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in medical administrative support, clinical coordination, and patient service within surgical and obstetrical settings. This role is vital in ensuring seamless communication among medical staff, patients, and external providers, while maintaining compliance with healthcare regulations such as HIPAA. The coordinator will oversee scheduling, documentation review, and medical billing processes to support efficient clinic operations and high-quality patient care. Duties Coordinate surgical and obstetrical procedures by scheduling appointments, preparing necessary documentation, and ensuring all preoperative and postoperative requirements are met. Manage patient intake processes, verify insurance coverage, and perform insurance verification to facilitate smooth billing and reimbursement workflows. Utilize electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic, eClinicalWorks, Intergy or similar platforms to document patient encounters accurately and review medical records for completeness. Assist with medical coding including CPT (Current Procedural Terminology), ICD-9/10 (International Classification of Diseases), and ICD coding to ensure precise billing and compliance with Medicare regulations. Provide exceptional patient service by answering multi-line phone systems professionally, scheduling appointments efficiently, and maintaining a welcoming environment. Support medical billing processes through collection efforts, documentation review, and accurate data entry. Maintain strict adherence to HIPAA guidelines by safeguarding patient information during all administrative activities. Collaborate with clinical staff to develop care plans and ensure that all documentation aligns with regulatory standards and clinic protocols. Perform clerical duties including filing, data entry, typing, and managing medical records to support daily operations within the clinic or hospital setting. Facilitate communication between patients, providers, insurance companies, and external agencies to ensure clarity and efficiency in care delivery. Experience Prior experience in a medical office environment with a focus on surgical or obstetrical clinics is highly preferred. Demonstrated proficiency with EMR systems such as Epic, ECW and Intergy is preferred. Knowledge of medical terminology, CPT coding, ICD-9/10 coding standards, Medicare policies, and health information management practices. Strong background in medical billing procedures including insurance verification and collection efforts. Excellent organizational skills with the ability to multitask effectively in fast-paced healthcare settings. Bilingual abilities are a plus to serve diverse patient populations effectively.
