Surgery Coordinator

Surgery Coordinator Ophthalmologist based in Broward County is seeking a pro-active, customer service oriented Surgical Coordinator. The ideal candidate is a bilingual (English/Spanish) energetic, enthusiastic go-getter who can work with a wide variety of personalities. Duties and responsibilities for this unique opportunity include but are not limited to:

• Meet with patients to schedule and educate patients on surgeries
• Discuss various surgery alternatives
• Prepare surgical documentation for the office and outpatient center
• Act as liaison between the office and the surgery centers
• Coordinate with the primary care physician's office for medical clearance
• Confirm insurance coverage and discuss financial obligations with patient
• Ensure that all necessary testing is completed prior to surgery
• Assist with patient prescriptions for surgery
• Create schedule for day of surgery
• Call patients with details prior to surgery
• Answer patient phone calls
• Help with clerical duties

Minimum Qualifications :

The qualified candidate for this position should have a minimum of 6 months experience and full comprehension of the ophthalmic terminology. The candidate should also possess the following: strong English/Spanish communication skills, professional demeanor and attitude, and the ability to handle multiple priorities with diplomacy, tact, and confidence are important. Organization skills and attention to details are very important for this position.
