Job Description

Busy and fast paced Orthopaedic practice looking for a VIP of First Impressions! As a Patient Ambassador, you are the first person a patient speaks to when they call the practice, so we are looking for someone friendly and energetic with
SUPERIOR CUSTOMER SERVICE.
You play a pivotal role in ensuring patients have a great experience from the moment they call to make an appointment. We believe in going above and beyond, and feel that there is no nobler pursuit than that of caring for and improving human life. We hope you'll join us on our mission! Position is responsible for answering incoming calls, scheduling, rescheduling and cancelling appointments, providing information, communicating with departments, processing interoffice communication task, and verifying that all patient demographic information is correct and up to date. •

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Greet patients in an upbeat, friendly and professional manner. Schedule, reschedule, confirm and cancel patient appointments accurately and timely. Collect co-payments, balances and surgery deposits. Verify insurance coverage. Answering phones, checking voicemail and email, and returning all calls in a timely manner. Obtains and documents in the patient's chart accurate patient demographic and insurance information from the patient or patient representative at the time appointment is scheduled. Work as a team to ensure that all job functions are complete. New patient registration. Scheduling referrals in a timely manner. Performs front‑desk duties when needed to support daily operations. Other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
ATHENA
EXPERIENCE IS A PLUS
Superior customer service and a willingness to help others. Strong comfort level with direct and indirect patient interaction. Extremely comfortable collecting money from patients. Strong computer skills. Must be a team player, personable, assertive and confident. Excellent organizational skills, ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment. Flexibility to support change in a new and fast growing orthopaedic practice.
EDUCATION
High school diploma or
GED EXPERIENCE
Minimum of one- year experience in a customer service setting, preferably six months' receptionist health care setting, proven ability to handle escalations in a calm professional demeanor and experience with office equipment.
REQUIREMENTS
50 wpm typing skills preferred, basic word processing, excellent phone management, advanced communication and organizational skills.
KNOWLEDGE
Knowledge of reception tasks, clinical policies/procedures, paperwork. Knowledge of how to use office equipment including but not limited to phone, computer, copier and fax machine. Knowledge of customer service concepts and techniques.
SKILLS:
Skill in using office equipment satisfactorily and handling paperwork/filing adequately. Skill in customer service principles by creating a pleasant experience.
ABILITIES
Ability to communicate clearly in person and on the phone and establish/maintain cooperative relationships with patients, families, physicians, staff, and other customers. Ability to organize and prioritize tasks effectively. Ability to read, understand and follow oral and/or written instructions. Can file correctly by alphabetic or numeric systems.
ENVIRONMENTAL WORKING CONDITIONS
Office setting that is well-ventilated and well lit.
PHYSICAL/MENTAL DEMANDS
Standing for up to 2 hours/day. Sitting for approximately 6-8 hours/day. Requires eye-hand coordination, finger dexterity. Vision must be corrected to 20/20 and hearing must be in normal range. Must be able to view computer screens for long periods. Occasional stress related workload and patients with problems. Must be able to lift 30 pounds regularly, up to 50 pounds occasionally.
