Summary The Health and Wellness Director is responsible for planning, organizing, and directing the daily operations of the Resident Services Department to ensure high-quality care for residents. This role ensures compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations, as well as community policies and procedures. Under the direction of the Executive Director, the Health and Wellness Director also provide direct resident care and supports a safe, effective, and compassionate environment within the assisted living community. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Plan, implement, and manage all aspects of the Resident Services Department, ensuring compliance with state regulations, internal policies, and care quality standards. Supervise licensed and unlicensed staff, oversee physician services, medication management, scheduling, infection control, and in-service trainings. Determine staffing needs, assist with hiring and onboarding, and evaluate staff performance regularly. Facilitate interdepartmental collaboration to ensure high-quality resident care and efficient operations. Monitor resident health changes, implement interventions, and document observations and outcomes accurately. Oversee admissions, transfers, and discharges of residents, ensuring smooth transitions and regulatory compliance. Participate in committees related to care planning, infection control, pharmacy, quality assurance, and budget planning. Conduct safety inspections, monitor for hazards, and implement injury prevention and workplace health programs. Manage resident care planning and conduct regular reviews in alignment with federal, state, and community guidelines. Lead in-service training and education for department staff; develop ADA-compliant policies and support disability management programs. Audit clinical documentation, verify staff credentials, and ensure confidentiality and HIPAA compliance. Support budgeting processes and make recommendations for department financial planning. Participate in government surveys and prepare for regulatory compliance inspections. Provide emergency support and respond to incidents promptly, including performing CPR when necessary. Maintain a welcoming, safe, and inclusive environment for all residents, families, and staff. Perform additional duties as assigned by the Executive Director.
Education and Experience Required:
Current, LPN license in the State of Georgia.Required:
Degree in nursing from an accredited college, university, or nursing program.Required:
Current CPR certification.Preferred:
Advanced education in nursing administration, geriatric nursing, or rehabilitation.Required :
Minimum of 3 years in long-term care or assisted living, with demonstrated success in a supervisory role.Required:
At least 2 years of experience in implementing total resident care and care planning.Preferred:
2 years of supervisory experience in a hospital, long-term care, or other healthcare setting. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Demonstrates strong problem-solving skills; able to identify issues, analyze data, and develop effective solutions both independently and collaboratively. Applies analytical thinking to interpret diverse information and support decision-making. Delivers responsive and compassionate customer service; manages challenging situations with residents, families, and staff while ensuring follow-through and service improvement. Maintains confidentiality and professionalism; uses active listening and conflict resolution to build strong interpersonal relationships. Communicates clearly and effectively in both verbal and written formats; listens attentively, responds to questions, and provides thoughtful feedback. Works well independently and within teams; promotes a collaborative and positive team environment. Manages time and priorities efficiently to meet deadlines without compromising quality, accuracy, or service standards. Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel; comfortable in Windows environments and capable of downloading and interpreting reports. Writes clearly and accurately; edits for grammar and spelling and effectively interprets and presents written and numerical information. Familiar with standard office and clinical tools, including medical charts, assessment supplies, printers, copiers, fax machines, reference materials, state guidelines, and reporting systems. Work Environment / Physical Demands This position operates within a senior living or healthcare facility and requires regular movement throughout resident care areas. Employees must be able to stand and walk for prolonged periods and perform frequent physical tasks, including lifting, pushing, pulling, bending, squatting, and reaching. The role may involve lifting or moving objects weighing up to 25 pounds unassisted, often with twisting or turning motions. Exposure to healthcare-related environmental conditions such as bodily fluids, odors, infectious waste, and communicable diseases (including HIV, Hepatitis B, and other viruses) may occur. This position is classified under Risk Category 2 or 3, indicating potential exposure to bloodborne pathogens. Employees must follow all safety and infection control protocols and be able to perform duties without posing a risk to themselves or others.EOE M/F/D/V
