RECREATION COORDINATOR
assists in implementing quality activities for senior residents ensuring recreational, physical, intellectual and social needs of each resident are met in accordance with all laws, regulations and company standards
  • Including memory care programming, specialized activities for all levels of cognitive impairment in connection with the most current memory care practices.
Schedule:
3 days/week. 11:30a-8p.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Must have high school diploma or equivalent. Prior experience with seniors preferred.
SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS
Must enjoy serving seniors. Must demonstrate excellent customer service and hospitality. Must demonstrate trustworthiness and dependability. Must work efficiently and effectively with little to no supervision. Must demonstrate effective written and verbal communication skills. Must be organized. Must be able to receive and resolve complaints graciously. Must be resourceful and creative. Must always be in proper attire and well-groomed. Must have valid commercial driver's license in current state with clean driving record. Aptitude in arts/crafts/music desirable.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Must be able to read, write, speak and understand the English language. Must practice regular and predictable attendance. Must follow company policies including harassment, code of ethics, complaint procedures, safety, sanitation, confidentiality, dress code and resident rights. Must assist in the evacuation of residents and supports residents during times of crisis (i.e., natural disasters). Must provide quality recreational services for residents and encourage participation. Must be able to communicate and function in an interdisciplinary team. Must be able to concentrate and use reasoning skills and good judgment. Must be able to sit, stand, bend, lift, push, pull, stoop, walk and move intermittently during working hours. Must be able to lift 40 lbs floor to waist, lift 10 lbs waist to shoulder, lift and carry 40 lbs and push/pull 40 lbs.
BASIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Below is a description of basic job duties though other related duties may become necessary as directed by supervisor. Adheres to programming specifically designed and appropriate for residents with cognitive impairment. Conducts quality activity programs including weekends and evenings. Assists residents directly in recreational services. Assists with planning monthly recreational services calendar. Communicates monthly calendar of recreational services to residents and staff. Assists volunteers to help with recreational services. Involved in public relations contacts to community-at-large. Welcomes and assists new residents with adjustment to community. Encourages recreational services geared toward residents' abilities and interests

Encourages social involvement through outings and events: shopping, sightseeing, scenic, parks, dining out, sports events, drama/theater, etc. Encourages intellectual and educational development thorough literature, lectures, movies and cultural events. Encourages entertainment and personal development through hobbies, music and crafts. Encourages wellness and healthy lifestyle through exercise programs. Encourages spiritual fulfillment through religious-based activities. Observes resident attendance, mood, behavior and degree of involvement and notifies Recreational Services Director of inappropriate behavior or unusual changes.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Works throughout community
  • inside and outside. Subject to frequent interruptions. Works beyond normal working hours, on weekends, and in other positions temporarily as necessary. Subject to falls, burns from equipment, odors, etc. throughout the working day. Possible exposure to infectious waste, diseases, conditions, etc.
