Job Description

The Orthopaedic Outpatient Surgery Center (OOSC) is seeking a full-time Operating Room Supervisor. The OOSC is exclusive to DMOS surgeons performing a wide variety of orthopaedic cases from hand to total joints. This position is a Monday thru Friday position. Enjoy a great work life balance as there is no weekend, no holidays and no on call coverage. What does an outstanding OR Supervisor look like? Current, unrestricted RN license to practice in the state of Iowa as a Registered Nurse. An active BLS and ACLS Certification. Two years prior experience working in orthopaedics or an ASC is preferred. Must be able to prioritize and work with minimal supervision. Flexibility of hours based on scheduled cases. Excellent organizational, communication and teamwork skills. Ability to handle busy environments and be adaptable to change. In conjunction with the Surgical Services Manager, the
OR Supervisor:
Creates, maintains, and supports an environment which fosters teamwork, empowers staff and promotes professional, positive physician and patient relations throughout the center. Oversees daily surgery schedule; manages and communicates daily changes throughout all areas in a timely manner. Reviews surgery schedule for the following day and establishes case order based on physician preference, patient needs/requests, and instruments/equipment availability. Coordinate with Control staff to verify patient pre-admission requirements are completed prior to day of surgery and assist with Anesthesia chart reviews/patient approvals prior to surgery and monitor scheduling sheets for surgeon special requests and/or patient needs.-Monitors healthcare providers to ensure performance is within delineation of privileges and communicates any issues to the Surgical Services Clinical Manager. Other duties as assigned that ensure organizational efficiency and outstanding patient care.
