HOSPITALITY LEAD (BAKERY & COFFEE BAR)

Violet Crumb is a scratch-made neighborhood bakery in downtown Wheaton. Donuts are the thing, but the menu changes constantly. One week it's crullers and cherry danish, the next it's some completely unhinged seasonal drink and a pastry case full of things people travel to town for. Busy mornings are part of the deal. Music on, drinks flying out, boxes stacked across the counter, people asking what sold out already. People notice if I don't make fritters on a Friday. We're building the kind of neighborhood spot people stop into "real quick" and accidentally stay awhile. That energy matters here. This role is less about "managing" and more about helping shape how the shop feels when people walk through the door. We're looking for someone warm, socially intelligent, highly aware, calm under pressure, and genuinely good with people. Someone who can help hold the room together when it's busy without making it feel tense or frantic. The right person notices details instinctively. They can move quickly while still making people feel taken care of. They know how to keep the energy of a shift steady, support the team in real time, and make a busy room still feel welcoming, polished, and fun to be in. Taste matters here. Atmosphere matters here. The vibe of the room matters here. This is a hands-on role. You'll be actively working service, jumping in wherever needed, helping direct flow during busy mornings, and keeping the whole thing feeling smooth, warm, and dialed-in.

SCHEDULE REQUIREMENTS

Availability for Thursday through Sunday mornings is required. Weekend availability is required. PAY Hourly pay starts at $18 and scales with experience

WHAT YOU'LL DO

Help lead front of house service during busy mornings Keep the overall flow, pacing, and energy of the shop running smoothly Support the FOH team in real time and help keep everyone grounded during a rush Create a warm, thoughtful experience for customers from the moment they walk in Prepare coffee, tea, and seasonal drinks as part of daily service Notice and handle details proactively throughout the shift Help maintain visual standards, organization, and overall shop flow Jump into reset, dish, restocking, and wherever else support is needed

EXPERIENCE

Previous hospitality, café, restaurant, retail, or customer-facing leadership experience preferred Barista experience is a strong plus Strong hospitality instincts and emotional intelligence are a must
