Any Sandra Eskenazi Mental Health Center, Indiana's first community mental health center, provides comprehensive care for emotional and behavioral problems, including severe mental illness and substance abuse. The Sandra Eskenazi Mental Health Center offers both inpatient and outpatient services, including several outreach centers as well as clinic- and community-based services. FLSA Status Exempt Job Role Summary The SEMHC Manager manages and coordinates day-to-day activities of service areas and teams. This position works with the team in setting goals and makes recommendations regarding additions to program and/or reallocation of staffing resources. This position also establishes quality/outcome indicators for programs and regularly assesses progress, reporting outcomes to the Leadership Team. Proactively contributes to Eskenazi Health's mission: Advocate, Care, Teach and Serve with special emphasis on the vulnerable population of Marion County. Models Eskenazi Health values. Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Embraces, understands, and operates under the Recovery Model, including AIDET (Acknowledge, Introduce, Duration, Explanation, Thank You) and the spirit of motivational interviewing
  • Manages and coordinates day to day activities of service areas and teams
  • Continually assesses efficiency of programs and makes needed adjustments to ensure operational success
  • Oversees personnel from multiple disciplines
  • Works with the team in setting goals, and makes recommendations regarding additions to program and/or reallocation of staffing resources
  • Endorses and models a strengths-based, community centered model of care
  • Provides administrative and/or clinical supervision to employees
  • Leads consumer satisfaction and performance improvement initiatives
  • Establishes quality/outcome indicators for programs and regularly assesses progress, reporting outcomes to the Leadership Team
  • Establishes, monitors and manages the budget for area of responsibility
  • Supplies financial reporting data to finance staff in a timely manner (forecasts, variance reports etc.)
  • Ensures that client care follows established best practices
  • Evaluates personnel and ensures professional development initiatives
  • Makes recommendations and participates in the process of hiring, transfers, personnel actions and terminations
  • Monitors all facilities and programs associated with the manager, assuring that their operation meets all regulatory requirements
  • Manages all contracts, grants and service agreements, fulfilling any internal or external reporting requirements Job Requirements
  • Master's degree in social work, psychology, counseling or health administration
  • Five years of experience in a healthcare setting
  • A minimum of two years of management/supervision experience
  • Valid Indiana driver's license that meets Eskenazi Health's driving policy requirements
Crisis Services Only:
  • Active Indiana license in good standing as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), or Psychologist with Health Service Provider in Psychology (HSPP) endorsement
Inpatient Services Only:
  • Active Indiana registered nurse license in good standing
  • Bachelor's of science in nursing required; Master's in psychiatric mental health nursing preferred
Opioid Treatment Program Only:
Must have experience and training to safely manage therapeutic services to patients and to provide therapeutic services to patients receiving Opioid treatment medication Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Knowledge
  • Advanced knowledge of behavioral health
  • Advanced knowledge of substance use disorder and/or co-occurring disorders
  • Knowledge of medical terminology appropriate for clinical program
  • Knowledge of client/patient rights and responsibilities
  • Knowledge of current best practices and evidence-based practices for service areas
  • Must meet all population-specific competencies for role and service areas
  • Understanding of Joint Commission, Division of Mental Health and Addiction, and other regulatory requirements
Inpatient Services Only:
Must demonstrate competence to participate in interdisciplinary formulation of individual care plans and to direct, monitor, and evaluate the provision of nursing care Skills

  • Perform as an agent of change and lead team cohesively through change
  • Respond to customer satisfaction concerns in an effective manner
  • Manage multiple priorities and tasks in a high stress environment
  • Identify, engage and establish effective partnerships with both internal departments and external agencies
  • Apply UR/UM data to client care decisions, and to lead other staff in doing so Sandra Eskenazi Mental Health Center's primary mission is to serve individuals with serious mental illness and chronic addiction as well as seriously emotionally disturbed children and their families.
Patients of all ages are welcomed, from children to seniors, with a philosophy of care that stresses strength-based and family- and community-centered treatment utilizing the Recovery Model of treatment.
