Job Summary Responsible for scheduling/screening for ordered tests, MRI scans and minor procedures. Essential Functions Responsible for customer service, accurate data entry and assisting with patient needs. Must comply with HIPAA confidentiality standards when accessing or communicating patient information. Greets patients and visitors in a polite, prompt, and helpful manner. Schedules tests' appointments for patients; follows set protocols and asks MRI screening questions. Schedules follow-ups, test result appointments, etc. Answers questions from patients regarding tests to positively impact the care experience. Keeps good communication with all staff members. Maintains clean and orderly work area. Other duties as assigned by supervisor. Skills and Abilities Ability to communicate clearly in person and on the phone to establish & maintain cooperative relationships with patients, families, physicians, staff. Ability to organize and prioritize tasks effectively. Navigate and comprehension of computer software systems in office setting, prefer 50wpm. Typing skill with professional data entry skills including grammar, spelling, and punctuation. Must be able to work alone and part of a team. Physical/Mental Demands Work requires hand dexterity using office machines such as keyboards, calculators, phones, and faxes. Stooping and bending to reach files and supplies, mobility to complete errands. Sitting for up to 8 or more hours per day while doing computer input and responding to phone call questions. Must be able to work in front a computer and monitor for long periods. Occasional stress related to workload and patients in pain. Requires use of computer equipment, fax, calculators, printers, and any other equipment found in an office setting. Ability to sit, walk, stand, use hands and fingers, reach with hands and arms to move files or office supplies. Ability to move office items like rims of paper, laptops, office supplies, etc. Ability to lift, push or pick up to 40 pounds. Able to mobilize to all SBO locations when needed. Environmental Working Conditions Office setting environment. Medium level of exposure to communicable illnesses like the flu. Work requiring moderate speed and high degree of accuracy. Manual dexterity using computer keyboard, calculator, fax and copy machine and any other equipment used in an office setting. This position may require working evenings and weekendsStandard Qualifications Education:
Medical background in scheduling is preferredExperience:
Minimum of one-year experience in medical practice setting, preferably in a health care setting. Knowledge of medical terminology and experience with medical software/office equipment desirable. Function as an assistive person by Protecting the patient from injury caused by extraneous objects and chemical, electrical, mechanical, and thermal sources Demonstrating safe operation of equipment machinery and follows procedures for reporting and correcting an unsafe situation Handling specimens according to facility policy and procedures Performing interventions to protect the patient from infection Assembling supplies and equipment; Assuming an active role in assisting patient with care needs; Proactively optimizes opportunities to enhance flow and efficiency of the center; Orienting patient to environment; Maintaining patient normothermia; Assisting with patient transfers; Assisting throughout the facility in environmental cleaning; Protecting the patient's rights, dignity, and privacy Providing age-specific, culturally competent, ethical care within legal standards of practice. Complying with Universal Protocol and facility site validation and time-out policy. Provide hand-off report to other teammates that are accurate, concise and pertinent to the patient's condition and response to care. Clean and prepare equipment according to manufacturer's instructions for use. Perform other duties as assigned.Qualifications:
High School Graduate or equivalent. Certified Medical Assistant (MA)/Nursing Assistant (CNA)/Patient Care (PCT) preferred.
