There are currently two hospitals on the Osawatomie campus in Miami county: Osawatomie State Hospital (OSH) and Adair Acute Care (AAC). Adair Acute Care are a 60-bed facility, certified by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. All employees are expected to work in a harmonious and cooperative fashion with other staff to provide efficient and effective customer service: to use free time as available to assist other staff in the completion of work assignments and perform other tasks as needed; to contribute to a positive work environment through a positive, helpful, courteous demeanor towards staff, customers and the general public; and to adhere to appropriate standards of conduct regarding the use of leave, reports to work on time and in the designated fashion. The purpose of the Behavioral Health Program Manager position is to assist with management and supervision of Clinical Therapy staff members for a treatment program consisting of psychiatric patients in need of ongoing treatment for acute, severe & persistent mental illness. This position works directly with patients and staff to ensure that treatment needs are being addressed and that all appropriate standards are being maintained or exceeded throughout a patient's hospitalization. Staff supervisory duties include setting goals and documenting performance, coordinating quality of care reviews with discipline leaders, and scheduling staff to ensure coverage throughout all shifts when Director of Clinical Therapy Services is not present. The essential functions of this position may require physical strength to frequently push, pull, twist, bend, squat, walk, stand for extended periods of time, lift and/or restrain residents with or without assistance and respond to aggressive resident behavior with specific, trained techniques. Be able to observe and respond to residents in distress. Position Summary & Responsibilities Position Summary:
The Behavioral Health Program Manager will assist with management and supervision of Clinical Therapy staff members for a treatment program consisting of psychiatric patients in need of ongoing treatment for acute, severe & persistent mental illness. The incumbent works directly with patients and staff to ensure that treatment needs are being addressed and that all appropriate standards are being maintained or exceeded throughout a patient's hospitalization. Staff supervisory duties include setting goals and documenting performance, coordinating quality of care reviews with discipline leaders, and scheduling staff to ensure coverage throughout all shifts when Director of Clinical Therapy Services is not present/available. The incumbent also works with Human Resources to recruit, hire, train and retain staff. Job Responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following: Takes responsibility for the structure and functioning of the clinical treatment program at AAC. Provides coaching and feedback related to documentation to team members. Engages in special projects as assigned to streamline documentation workflow and processes. Develops and provides training programs for staff to further professional development, improve therapeutic response on the unit, and increases staffs' understanding of hospital policy and procedures. Takes main responsibility for the integrity of the treatment planning process, including supervision to the program treatment team, with particular emphasis for the clinical therapists, but including physicians, nurses, social workers, and others assigned or working within the program. Evaluates the work of staff in an ongoing manner and provides a written annual evaluation in conjunction with departmental supervisors. Assists with coordinating the staffing and work schedules for staff assigned to the program when Director of Clinical Therapy Services is not present. Provides staff training, both formal and informal, as needed in order to improve treatment services. Develops, implements, maintains, and evaluates treatment program with assistance and involvement from the rest of the team. Works with staff to establish and maintain a cohesive set of treatment offerings that are provided in a cooperative and collaborative atmosphere.
Qualifications Minimum Qualifications :
License or temporary license to practice at the independent, clinical level as a Psychologist, Social Worker, Professional Counselor or Masters Level Psychologist.
Preferred Qualifications :
At least two years of experience managing or directing a program. At least five years of experience working in the behavioral health field with individuals experiencing severe and persistent mental illness or with an inpatient psychiatric population.
