Job Description

Responsible for strategic leadership, vision, and direction, effective management, supervision, and day-to-day operations of the Student Health Center. With other members of the health services team, provides direct clinical care to students. Serves on the Student Life leadership team and collaborates closely with student well-being initiatives within Student Life and with other campus and community stakeholders. Ensures the delivery of high-quality health care to students in alignment with college and divisional goals, purposes, and priorities. Performs essential functions personally, through others, or in conjunction with designated personnel or outside vendors/experts. The Director is a member of the Student Life staff reporting to the Vice President for Student Life.
During times of high patient volume, or when clinical staff are absent, the director may be primarily devoted to direct patient care; Demonstrate appropriate procurement, storage, security, and maintenance of inventory including exam room supplies, over the counter medications, prescription medications, and vaccines; Ensure Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement measures are in place and carried out appropriately; Ensure that the staff in Student Health Services follow evidence-based infection control guidelines; Responsible for safe administration and dispensation of prescription and non-prescription medication, allergy injections, immunizations, and diagnostic testing; Identify student health needs through formal and informal surveys, interviews, and observations to implement continuous improvement; Maintain CLIA waived certification for Student Health Services; Establish annual goals, including student learning objectives, for Student Health Services. Assess goals and submit a report at the end of each academic year to the Vice President for Student Life on the effectiveness of Student Health Services; Receive medical accommodation requests for student housing, meal plan exemption requests, vaccination exemption requests and share with staff involved in the approval of these requests. Protect confidentiality of patient records and information as defined by the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA); Collaborate with well-being units on creating a coordinated plan to address holistic student well-being; Consult, refer, and collaborate with other offices, within the Centre College Community that are involved in the delivery of holistic student care i.e., counselors, student life, health promotion, academic affairs, athletic trainers, coaches, ADA coordinator, director of dining services, housing director, general counsel, student success coaches); Participate in and provide health education, collaborating closely with the Associate Dean for Student Well-Being and Director of Health Promotion to plan educational.programming around prevention Develop partnerships with external agencies and community organizations to enhance the delivery of health services. Initiate and update contractual agreements with medical professionals who are not employees of the college (physicians, Boyle County Health Department, pharmacies, Kentucky Department for Public Health, etc.); Establish and maintain relationships with community healthcare providers and facilities for student/patient referrals. Remain a member in good standing with the American College Health Association and engage with resources available through the organization; Subscribe to the CDC's Health Alert Network (HAN) and seek to be aware of public health situations taking place in the U.S. and in areas where students are abroad. Demonstrate an appreciation for and sensitivity to an inclusive academic community, fostering a welcoming environment for students, faculty, and staff from all social, economic, cultural, ideological, racial, and ethnic backgrounds.

Essential Job Functions:
Provide leadership and management of Student Health Services including budget management and evaluation of student health personnel, student workers, or interns, according to college policy; Ensure that required licensures and certifications are current for healthcare positions. Provide health care to students/patients as permitted by scope of practice for license, utilizing sound clinical judgment. Marginal Job Functions:
Serve on campus-wide committees, including search committees; Respond to e-mail requests/inquiries in a timely manner as clinic demands allow; Contribute to the overall success of the department or the college by performing additional responsibilities as assigned; Address concerns of parents while maintaining patient confidentiality. Education and Experience Registered nurse with a license issued by the state of Kentucky 5 years of experience in the health care field with supervisory experience CPR/AED training Knowledge and Skills Basic computer skills, strong clinical management and program development skills, public speaking and teaching, time management, dependability and flexibility, dedication, and compassion.Physical Requirements:
