BHMG Lexington Orthopedics Job Summary:
Maintains patient and employee privacy and confidentiality. Enforces, supports, and assists in writing, updating, and initiating all procedural changes pertaining to registration or pre-access functions. Assists with patient flow. Assists with time and attendance. Prepares work schedules and staffing for all patient access or pre-access areas. Assists with disciplinary issues, scheduling issues, corrective counseling and any personnel related issues. Assists with interviews and the hiring of new employees. Able to assess, identify and solve registration problems on a daily basis. Responsible for meeting quality standards in the registration or pre-access process. Assists in the training of all new employees. Follows up on complaints from departments, patients, visitors, physicians, etc. Responsible for the cohesiveness with which Patient Access interacts with other hospital departments. Adheres to and enforces all policies and procedures. Assists with other duties as assigned.
Principle Duties and Responsibilities:
Demonstrates a commitment to the mission, vision and values of Baptist Health. Supervises the daily activities and workflow of staff in assigned areas to optimize customer service, facilitate patient care and enhance the revenue cycle. Serves as a lead superuser and trainer of the admitting or Pre-Access systems and processes. Able to cover all areas as needed Instills and defines clear roles and responsibilities for staff accountability and responsibility for quality results. Ensures staff has effective computer systems, work tools and supplies to execute their assigned tasks. Coordinates and facilitates the development and delivery of training of staff. Assists in conducting formal performance evaluations on a timely basis and assists in conducting timely counseling and corrective action as needed. Resolves any issues with staff performance, quality of work, morale, customer service, backlogs in work, training deficiencies, staffing shortages, etc. Available for on-call consultation for pressing issues, and will report for shift coverage when required. Demonstrates knowledge of medical terminology, preadmission requirements, authorization, verification, insurance, reimbursement contracts and departmental policies and procedures. Demonstrates knowledge of the legal aspect of access services, including state and federal regulatory body requirements regarding access services Minimum Education, Training and Experience Required Minimum one year experience in Access Services related field (registration, patient accounting, and financial services) or one year of supervisory/management experience required.
