The Elayn Hunt Correctional Center is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Health Information Coordinator to join our Medical Department. This position plays a vital role in supporting the Assistant Director of Medical Services and the Medical Director by ensuring accurate, secure, and efficient management of health records and clinical information within a correctional healthcare setting. Minimum Qualifications One year of experience in administrative services; OR One year of training in or completion of a business or clerical-related curriculum from a business school or technical institute.
EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION

Job Duties and Other Information Job Duties:
Maintains strict security and confidentiality of all health information in accordance with federal, state, and departmental regulations, ensuring the integrity and protection of sensitive medical records. Performs a full range of medical record and administrative support functions using independent judgment, strong organizational skills, and a thorough understanding of Health Information Management (HIM) standards. Assists physicians and healthcare staff by applying expertise in health records management, facilitating timely access to accurate clinical documentation, and supporting continuity of patient care. Oversees the intake, review, sorting, and distribution of all medical documents received by the Health Information Management Department, ensuring proper classification, routing, and record integration. Responds to inquiries regarding the release of medical information and communicates professionally with attorneys, physicians, nurse practitioners, nurses, treatment center staff, and other authorized parties to ensure compliant and appropriate disclosure of healthcare information. Independently drafts and prepares correspondence, reports, directives, and policies for Medical Staff leadership, demonstrating initiative, accuracy, and an understanding of departmental philosophy and operational needs. Manages communication workflows for the Medical and Mental Health Departments, ensuring timely, accurate, and appropriate responses to all incoming and outgoing correspondence, requests, and documentation.
