General Description:
The Director is responsible for the overall administration and management of the WIC program. Provides direction and leadership in such a way as to nurture, create, and maintain an environment that is (1) free from discrimination, intolerance and harassment and (2) provide employees with equal access to opportunities for growth and advancement including professional development whenever possible.
Specific Essential Duties :
Plans, implements and evaluates program operations to ensure compliance with federal regulations and state policies and procedures, including all procedures relating to: WIC benefits and vendors Management Information System Caseload management Fiscal operations Data quality Quality assurance Staff deployment Sites opening and relocation Management evaluations Acts as a liaison between the sponsoring agency and the state WIC office between local programs and health and human service agencies Hires and provides ongoing supervision and annual evaluations for senior nutritionists, community coordinators, and program assistants Assists the senior nutritionist in the hiring and evaluation of nutrition staff. Trains in coordination with The Learning Center staff, the community coordinators and program assistants Defines (with the senior nutritionist) staff responsibilities, work schedules, participant service hours, and client flow Ensures that WIC staff have up-to-date knowledge and skills by: Requiring all staff to attend state-sponsored conferences, business meetings and in-service trainings Conducting regular staff meetings to share information and resolve problems Conducting annual staff reviews (in collaboration with the senior nutritionist) Providing annual civil rights training, annual customer service training, and domestic violence training for all staff Ensuring that all staff obtain 10 CEU credits annually Other related duties as requested
General Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in public health, public administration, nutrition, and two years' experience in program administration, with supervisory experience Demonstrated leadership and decision-making capabilities Experience in program planning and administration Sensitivity to the needs of the participant population Ability to articulate program goals and policies to participants, health care providers, community agencies, and vendors Ability to work well with management information systems Previous WIC experience and/or RD/LDN preferred Ability to perform the essential functions of this job.
