Job Description

Penquis, a social services agency that has been supporting Penobscot, Piscataquis, and Knox counties for over 50 years, is looking for a full-time Project Coordinator
  • for the Restorative Practices Project.
As the Project Coordinator you will serve as the lead facilitator and project coordinator for a pilot initiative focused on building and sustaining access to restorative responses to sexual violence and harm. In this role, you will develop and maintain relationships with referral partners throughout Penobscot and Piscataquis Counties, ensuring community partners understand the project and feel supported in making referrals when appropriate. You will lead community outreach and educational efforts to increase awareness of the initiative and its goals. Responsibilities also include managing participant intake, screening, scheduling, preparation, and co-facilitation of restorative processes, as well as providing ongoing follow-up support to participants. Working collaboratively with the pilot planning team, you will contribute reflections, insights, and lessons learned to help shape and strengthen a sustainable community-based restorative response model that aligns with the goals of the pilot project. This is a 32hr benefit eligible position based out of our Bangor location, with the possibility of occasional additional hours in another restorative justice program.

Bangor, Maine Project Coordinator Responsibilities:
Conduct community education on the pilot project
  • the benefits, limitations/boundaries, and process overview. Recruit referrals from community partners, paying special attention to promoting the pilot within those populations at greatest risk of experiencing violence. Conduct screening, intake and risk assessment. Engage in thoughtful preparation of participants
  • including the person harmed, person who caused harm and associated community members
  • alongside a co-facilitator.
Arrange for and co-facilitate the restorative process. Ensure follow-up to that process which may include providing a summary, checking in/offering reflective space for participants, planning for and facilitating follow-up conversations, connecting individuals with services, and supporting reparative agreements and action items. Work collaboratively with co-facilitators, advocates, fellows, volunteers, and agency staff to advance the safest, most respectful, and useful process possible. Engage in reflection and quality improvement. Attend Penquis Restorative Justice staff meetings and Rape Response Services staff meetings as an active member of both teams.
Project Coordinator Requirements :
Associate's degree and at least 3-5 years of volunteer or work experience providing trauma-informed direct support to people. Awareness of, and sensitivity to, issues of sexual violence. A personal philosophy in keeping with the program's goals and objectives. Must be able to work flexible and on-call hours including some nights and weekends. Ability to provide reliable, ensured, transportation. Upon hire and periodically thereafter, must comply with Penquis background check requirements with satisfactory results as outlined in current contract provisions.
