Full Job Description Scope:
Responsible for assisting in the coordination of services for children (0-5), including children with: atypical/challenging behaviors, certified disabilities, and physical handicaps. Provided reflective coaching to site staff to ensure inclusive practice and to promote optimal early childhood outcomes. Essential Functions Ensures that all developmental screenings are completed within the program and establishes a timeline after the child's entry. Receive, process, and provide regular follow up on child referrals for special education services. Maintain collateral contacts with mental health/disability and other service providers. Provide reflective coaching to Teaching staff and Site Managers in all areas of Mental Health and Disability, including implementation and use of inclusive practices. Provide support to classroom staff in implementing Positive Behavior Interventions (PBIS) and other program curriculums. Collaborate with Site Managers and Teaching staff to develop individual and comprehensive child Behavioral Plans. Assist in monitoring and documenting progress on action steps outlined in Behavioral and Educational Plans. Works closely with content area program staff to plan integrated services for all children (e.g., education, child health and nutrition, parent, and community engagement) Monitor and ensure the incorporation of Individual Education Plans (IEP) and Individual Family Service Plans (IFSP) goals within Head Start Individualized Learning Plans (ILP). Actively attend and participate in staff meetings, IEP meetings, parent-teacher conferences, home visits, Health Services Advisory Committee, and community meetings as required. Assists in setting, clarifying, and communicating disabilities services standards and laws to staff and parents, as required or requested, and provides families with resources coordination and linkages. Plans and delivers, or secures, individualized and/or group training for staff and parents. Complete monthly reports on area activities and program progress toward goals with recommended modifications to plans. Analyzes data and reports (sometimes using abstract reasoning). Ensure completion of documentation of classroom visits and coaching sessions. Assists in transitioning children with disabilities and those in the diagnostic process to their next destination, ensuring a smooth and efficient process, with full parental participation. Assist in Identifying, cultivating, and maintaining collaborative organizational partners, including school districts, public school academies, higher education, social services agencies, in support of Early Childhood program goals and family support needs. Participate in the development and monitoring of interagency agreements. Further professional development by attending national, state, and local meetings of relevance to program goals and complete a minimum of 15 hours clock hours annually Maintain manual and electronic files and/or records for the purpose of documenting activities, providing reliable information, and complying with State and Federal requirements. Maintain records and confidentiality of enrolled families to include the management Protective Services reports and Mandated Reporting requirements. Cooperate in any investigation related to personnel, licensing, accreditation, or other circumstances. Actively participate in early childhood program employee and family outreach, recruitment and retention efforts. Serve as an advocate for low-income members of the community through means that may include, but not be limited to membership in advocacy groups, professional organizations, and efforts to present community services in a manner, which would ensure greater availability or efficiency. Assist in generating non-federal match value through program activities and collaborations for the Head Start program. Maintain a positive attitude towards assigned work, clients, and staff, and a willingness to work with others. Perform work in a professional manner that upholds Wayne Metro's policies and procedures. Comply with all policies/procedures, State licensing regulations, Head Start Performance standards and GSRP standards. Ensure the health and safety of children, families, and staff, per agency, federal, state and local policies. Other duties as assigned.Physical Requirements and Work Environment:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk, sit, see, talk, and hear, and use hands to manipulate. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms, climb steps, stoop, bend, kneel, or crouch. The employee is required to supervise students, requiring the employee to match walking speed that matches the student and may at times require the ability to run to safeguard students. The employee must occasionally lift (up to fifty pounds), carry, and move students. Employees must occasionally move equipment and/or supplies. The job is performed for the most part in a school setting with occasional outside weather conditions. The noise level is that of a typical school setting.Minimum Qualifications:
BA/BS Degree in Early Childhood Education, Special Education, or Mental Health. Experience working with children that exhibit challenging behaviors. Knowledge of developmentally appropriate practices, diagnostic tests screening tools and assessments, and laws protecting individuals with disabilities. Experience working with children with challenging behaviors and/or across disability spectrums. Ability to observe and record information including non-verbal information. Bilingual skills, oral and written, in Arabic or Bangla are a plus but not required. Ability to work cooperatively with supervisors, colleagues, and all agency staff. Ability to communicate effectively with individuals and groups both orally and in writing. Ability to work cooperatively with supervisors, colleagues, and all agency staff. Ability to represent the agency in a professional manner. Ability to lift 50 lbs. or more.Minimum Competencies:
Intermediate knowledge of basic internet applications and programs including Google technology and Microsoft Office Word and Excel. The ability to learn and utilize the necessary programs for this position. Good interpersonal and professional skills including but not limited to professional appearance, tact, punctuality, and dependability. Ability to provide services for those people facing economic, social, health, age, and educational barriers. Ability to work independently or in a team environment (as deemed necessary). Perform work in a manner that upholds Wayne Metro policies and procedures.Travel Requirements:
Ability to travel to various sites.Licensing and Other Requirements:
Valid identification and reliable transportation. Although the Covid-19 vaccination is no longer mandated, it is encouraged. Wayne Metro will always prioritize the safety of our staff and clients.Work Hours:
Work schedule is Monday - Friday, with specific hours (and occasional Saturdays) to be determined by department needs.Other Duties:
