N/A We're looking for a Neonatology physician to provide locum tenens coverage at a busy inpatient NICU in Lansing, Michigan from July 1, 2026 to July 1, 2027. This role is covering due to short staffing and includes both clinical shifts and home call; travel, lodging, and malpractice are provided. Schedule & Call Day shifts are 10 hours; night coverage is 14-hour home call with a 1:4 call ratio. Response time for call is 30 minutes. Patient Population & Volume Care for neonatal patients in a combined NICU and special care nursery setting. Average daily census is about 31 patients with roughly 3 admissions per day. Facility Highlights 47 total beds (33 licensed NICU beds, 12 Special Care Nursery beds, plus 2 bassinets). Level I trauma designation and EPIC as the EMR. Multidisciplinary support on site including NICU nurse manager, operations manager, PT/OT, dietitians, child life specialists, nursing staff, and Neonatal Nurse Practitioners (NNPs). Clinical Responsibilities Attend high-risk deliveries and C-sections and lead neonatal resuscitation when needed. Manage advanced ventilation (BiPAP/CPAP, oscillator ventilators) and inhaled nitric oxide (iNO). Perform and supervise common neonatal procedures: chest tube, central line, arterial line, PA catheter, umbilical venous and arterial catheterizations (UVC/UAC), and PICC placement. Supervise NNPs and document all patient care in EPIC. Qualifications & Compliance Board certified in Neonatology with fellowship training in neonatology. Active full Michigan medical license required. NALS certification required. Applicants must complete a self-query of the NPDB. Credentialing timeline is approximately 120+ days.
