The Patient Communication Coordinator serves as the primary point of contact for physicians and staff within the operating room/surgical center department. The position requires strong organizational skills, attention to details, professionalism, and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced surgical environment. Works in conjunction with providers and clinical staff to take care of Center's needs.PREREQUISITE EXPERIENCE
One year of experience in a healthcare environment or a minimum of two years' experience in a customer service focused role. Knowledge of medical terminology is helpful.REQUIRED EDUCATION
High School Graduate or GED equivalent.PREREQUISITE SKILLS
Strong listening and communication skills. Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment. Ability to multi-task, have attention to detail, strong organization skills, and a team player. Written communication skills necessary for appropriate and accurate documentation. Demonstrates an ability to use good judgment for maintaining confidentiality. Strong computer skills including experience with Intranet and Internet usage, Excel/Word software, E-mail Usage and Web-based applications.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
The following functions describe the essential duties of this role. Individuals in this role may not perform all of these duties, or may perform additional, related duties not listed here. Report all incidents and adverse incidents per Center policy Phone coverage Scanning and emailing documents Verifying charges and implants Ordering lunches Data collection and enter information in other software systems Data entry/formatting documents Other assigned duties Documentation Reviews clinical documentation for accuracy, errors and omissions. Transposes data from paper medical records into Center's computer software systems. 3. Maintains accurate data in the Center's software programs by regularly updating information as needed (supplies, costs, procedures). 4. Periodically audits work. 5. Communicates with leadership, nursing staff, and materials management regarding questions on charges, items used or documentation. 6. Prepare documentation of implants and invoices for billing and coding. Competency Communication and Customer Service Maintaining good communication internally and externally with physicians, team members and vendors; and is expected to promote positive personal relationships and maintain exceptional patient and physician satisfaction. Ensuring effective customer service by demonstrating an attitude of service and responsiveness towards patients, co-workers and physicians.
