Job Objective:
Responsible for patient care. Ensures that the residents remain as independent as possible as long as they are in the facility. Also, responsible for ensuring excellence in service towards residents by supervising the Resident Aides for efficiency, courtesy and accuracy.
Essential Job Functions:
Recruit, interview, train and delegate responsibilities to all Resident Aides to provide proper care of Residents. Orientation and in-service training of CNA's and RA's. Perform evaluations of staff. Over-see dispensing of medications, medication storage, medication reorders, records and treatments as order by attending physicians or relevant to minimum standards. Assist the staff when there is a shortage. In the event of a call in by an employee and after every attempt has been made to assure coverage, if unable to fill position, the Director of Health Care Services will have to assume coverage. Ensure staff is properly assisting with all personal care of the residents. Assure personal contact with the residents. Assure sign-out register for residents. Order medications and stock supplies of medications and other products. Complete Doctors' orders, checking monthly renewal forms. Update resident's records for medication renewals, PPD testing, Chest x-rays and physicals, assuring proper record keeping in all areas. Schedule residents for Doctor appointments. Contact Social Workers for in-hospital residents. Assist consultants, physicians, or other health care providers to assure overall medical care. Constantly assess and evaluate resident's mental state in case a resident requires special attention outside of the facility (i.e. psychiatric treatment) Responsible for meeting visitors, responsible parties, and dealing with family members. Create resident care plan based on prior history and assessment. Complete admissions and discharges of residents. Go over the resident care plan in detail with family members. May conduct pre-admission interviews with prospective residents, his/her family or any other appropriate person to determine placement. Will conduct pre-admission assessment of potential residents to assess appropriateness for our facility. Will assure confidentiality of each resident's medical information. Assure that the Resident Bill of Rights is not violated.
Job Standard:
Experience in Assisted Living preferred. Experience in dealing with health issues of the elderly is necessary. Must be free of communicable diseases.
