Job Description
We are seeking an experienced and hands-on Division Manager to oversee operations for two hotel properties—the Lumber Jack Lodge, an Ascend Collection (Choice Hotels) property , and Super 8 by Wyndham , along with Lumber Jack Food and Spirits —within a family-owned hospitality company in West Branch, Michigan. Forward Corporation is a fifth-generation, family-owned and operated Michigan company that has been in business for over 100 years. Known primarily for its Shell and Marathon convenience stores, Forward's portfolio has grown to include Subway restaurants, the LumberJack Lodge and Restaurant, a Super 8 in West Branch, and Ideal Party Stores of Bay City. Forward Corp. also owns and operates Forward Energy, a home heating business, and T.R. McTaggart, a custom screen printing and embroidery company. Headquartered in Standish, MI, Forward proudly employs over 750 Michigan residents statewide. This role is responsible for the overall performance and day-to-day operations of both properties, with a strong focus on guest satisfaction, team leadership, and financial results. The ideal candidate is a proactive leader who can effectively manage multiple priorities while maintaining brand standards and a positive team culture.
Key Responsibilities:
Oversee all aspects of daily hotel operations for both properties, including front desk, housekeeping, and maintenance- Lead and manage on-site food and beverage operations, including catering, banquets, and bar service, ensuring high-quality execution and guest satisfaction
- Ensure compliance with Choice Hotels (Ascend Collection) and Wyndham (Super 8) brand standards
- Drive financial performance through effective management of budgets, labor, and expenses
- Deliver exceptional guest experiences and resolve concerns in a timely, professional manner
- Recruit, train, schedule, and develop team members
- Monitor performance metrics including occupancy, RevPAR, and guest satisfaction scores
- Conduct regular property inspections to ensure cleanliness, safety, and quality standards
- Collaborate with ownership and leadership on operational goals and improvements
- Maintain a strong community presence and support local marketing efforts
Qualifications:
Minimum of 5 years of hotel management experience (multi-property experience preferred)- Experience overseeing or supporting food and beverage operations preferred
- Strong leadership and team development skills
- Experience with hotel systems and operational reporting
- Knowledge of Choice Hotels and/or Wyndham brands preferred
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays
