- 11:30 pm Every third weekend in ER Position Objective The Health Unit Coordinator (HUC) is responsible for performing a variety of clerical duties relating to the updating and organizing of information on the nursing units: coordinating work within the unit as well as with other units and departments, reporting information to the immediate supervisor, responding to inquiries and requests from staff personnel, etc.
Essential Responsibilities The following description of responsibilities to be performed is not intended to be all-inclusive. Rather, it focuses on the major tasks that must be accomplished. Clerical Duties Direct calls to appropriate individuals and/or take messages Keep all necessary lists and schedules Maintain Office Supplies Fax and photocopy as needed Nursing Unit Duties Complete provider orders Assist with admissions, transfers, and discharges Complete orders for lab, radiology, etc. Prepare documents for a transferred patient Other Responsibilities Perform all other related duties as assigned in a professional and responsive manner Demonstrate the ability to use relevant equipment Support, understand, and promote Alomere Health's mission, vision, values, policies and procedures Ability to meet the work schedule requirements with flexibility dependent upon the needs of the department Foster respectful working relationships with professional colleagues, patients, families, and general public regardless of age, gender, lifestyle, culture, beliefs, race, socioeconomic class, or ability Required Qualifications High school graduate or equivalent Two years of clerical experience in a medical setting Preferred Qualifications Successful graduate of an approved Medical Secretarial Program Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Ability to answer the telephone in a professional manner Ability to coordinate specific work tasks with other personnel within the unit as well as within other units in order to ensure the smooth and efficient flow of information Strong communication skills
