Job Description

Job Overview We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Surgery Scheduler / Patient Care Coordinator to join our healthcare team. In this vital role, you will serve as the primary point of contact for patients, coordinating surgical appointments and ensuring seamless communication between patients, providers, and the operating rooms. Your energetic approach and exceptional organizational skills will help create a positive patient experience while maintaining accurate documentation and efficient scheduling. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to patient care excellence in a fast-paced medical environment. Responsibilities Schedule surgical procedures and follow-up appointments, ensuring accuracy and timeliness. Schedule lab tests, EKG's and other studies, pre-op appointments and other patient appointments as needed as well as arranges for implants and other necessary case-specific items. Identify cases that will likely need a prior authorization and works with medical records to obtain prior authorization. Is the point of contact for patients regarding prior authorizations. Communicate effectively with patients via phone, email, or in person to confirm appointments, provide instructions, and answer inquiries with professional phone etiquette. Assist with billing procedures by understanding CPT coding, ICD-10 coding systems, and medical billing processes related to surgical services. Manage multi-line phone systems, file medical records securely, and perform clerical duties such as data entry using Microsoft Office tools. Responsible for the physician and esthetician templates and schedules in the practice management system. Communicate with prospective cosmetic surgery patients. Provides general information regarding specific procedures performed, recovery times, physician credentials, facility information, and general costs of procedures. Needs to be an advocate of cosmetic surgery. Coordinate surgery processes for cosmetic patients regarding surgery costs, scheduling, and collection of payments, incorporates best cash handling practices and follows all NPS policies. Completes cosmetic fee quotes and offers full Good Faith Estimates to prospective surgical patients. Applies cosmetic consult fee to surgical fee if appropriate and collects all cosmetic surgery payments prior to surgery. Function as the main point of contact for all pre-surgical patients. Work closely with administrator, surgeons, clinical team, front office and revenue cycle team to ensure good communication. Experience Prior clinic or medical office experience is required; surgical clinic experience is a plus. Excellent organizational skills with experience in health care, front desk operations, and medical scheduling. Demonstrated proficiency with EMR systems such as athenahealth, Epic, or similar platforms. Strong knowledge of medical terminology, ICD-10 coding, CPT coding, and Medicare guidelines. Proven ability to handle sensitive patient information following HIPAA standards while providing outstanding customer service in a fast-paced environment.
Pay:
$23.50 - $27.50 per hour
