Job Description
The Division of Student Affairs is accepting applications for The Executive Director of Student Health and Wellness Clinic position. The Executive Director of the Student Health and Wellness Clinic provides strategic leadership, administrative oversight, and clinical coordination for comprehensive student health services on a college campus. This position is responsible for the delivery of high-quality, accessible, and student-centered medical, mental health, and wellness services while ensuring regulatory compliance, fiscal sustainability, and alignment with the institution's mission. The Executive Director oversees clinical and support staff, including nurses, nurse practitioners, clinicians, counselors, and a part-time physician, and leads campus-wide health promotion, outreach initiatives, and external funding efforts, including grant identification and management. Leadership & Administration
- Provide overall leadership and strategic direction for the Student Health and Wellness Clinic.
- Develop and implement policies, procedures, and clinical protocols consistent with best practices and regulatory requirements.
- Ensure clinic operations support student retention, success, and holistic well-being.
- Prepare and manage the clinic's annual budget, monitor expenditures, and identify cost-effective service models.
- Serve as a key advisor to senior leadership on student health trends, needs, and risks.
- Ensure quality programming from the center that relate to various types of health concerns and educational pieces for students and the campus community. Clinical Oversight & Compliance
- Oversee the delivery of medical and wellness services, ensuring quality, safety, and ethical standards.
- Coordinate care among nurses, clinicians, practitioners, counselors, and the part-time physician.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable local, state, and federal regulations (e.g., HIPAA, OSHA, public health guidelines).
- Maintain accreditation, licensure, and credentialing standards for clinical staff.
- Implement continuous quality improvement and risk management practices.
- Ensure compliance with university requirements for students are well documented.
- Oversee the data tracking of information is succinct and accurate for monthly or biweekly reporting for the division. Student Health Services & Wellness Programming
- Ensure the provision of comprehensive services such as primary care, preventive health, sexual health education, immunizations, chronic condition management, and health screenings.
- Lead the development of campus-wide health education and wellness initiatives addressing physical health, mental health, substance misuse, nutrition, stress management, and sexual health.
- Collaborate with counseling services, disability services, athletics, residence life, and academic units to support holistic student wellness. Outreach & Campus Engagement
- Design and implement proactive outreach strategies to engage students, particularly underserved and high-risk populations.
- Promote clinic services through orientations, workshops, health fairs, and digital platforms.
- Establish partnerships with local hospitals, health departments, community providers, and public health organizations.
- Represent the clinic on campus committees and in community health coalitions. Grant Development & External Funding
- Identify federal, state, foundation, and corporate grant opportunities to support student health and wellness initiatives.
- Lead or support grant writing, proposal development, and submission efforts.
- Oversee grant compliance, reporting, and assessment in collaboration with institutional advancement or sponsored programs.
- Cultivate external funding partnerships to enhance services, staffing, and infrastructure. Data, Assessment & Reporting
- Collect, analyze, and report data related to clinic utilization, health outcomes, and student satisfaction.
- Use data to inform decision-making, program development, and funding proposals.
- Prepare regular reports for senior leadership, accreditation bodies, and grant funders. Performs other duties assigned. Required Qualifications
- Advanced Healthcare Degree (ex. Master's degree or Higher in the following fields. Medical Doctor, Public Health, Nursing, Health Administration, or a related field)
- Minimum of 3-5 years of progressive leadership experience in healthcare, college health, public health, or wellness administration.
- Demonstrated experience supervising clinical and professional staff.
- Knowledge of college student health issues and campus-based healthcare delivery.
- Experience with grant identification, proposal development, or grant management. Preferred Qualifications
- Terminal or clinical degree (e.g., MD/DO, DNP, PhD, or equivalent).
- Experience in higher education, student affairs, or HBCU environments.
- Grant writing success with federal agencies (HRSA, SAMHSA, CDC), foundations, or state health departments.
- Ability to provide primary care services for students and staff.
- Experience integrating medical, mental health, and wellness services in a campus setting. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

- Primarily office and clinical environment.
- Occasional evening or weekend hours for outreach, emergency response, or campus events.
