POSITION SUMMARY
This position has responsibility for day to day health and wellness department programming. Position trains, recruits and ensures all fitness staff are properly certified. Also works to lead the team to bring new offerings and classes to our members maintaining relevance and engaging members requests and needs. Develops, plans and implements new policies and procedures, systems and methods in the Fitness department. Provides excellent customer service to members and the community in a safe, enjoyable and positive environment and promotes community wellness, engagement and facility space excellence. Is the steward of mYfit, strategically driving this future to engage with more subscribers and grow revenue.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
1. Develops and implements a comprehensive strategic plan to maximize the member health and wellness experience and the support systems necessary to accomplish this. Serves as a member of YMCA management team, establishing long range plans for expansion of programs and services to support the overall objectives of the YMCA. 2. Builds effective relationships with members, maximizing retention, ensuring satisfaction, and helping members connect with each other and the YMCA. Maintain working knowledge of health and wellness trends to provide effective information and innovative programming for all ages and fitness levels to support members and the community in general. 3. Recruits, hires, trains, schedules and directs assigned staff and volunteers as needed. Reviews and evaluates staff performance. Develops strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals. 4. Creates effective schedules and leads group exercise classes to meet YMCA objectives. Establishes new group exercise activities and expands programming within the community in accordance with strategic and operating plans. 5. Conducts ongoing assessments of health and wellness staff functions to maintain core competencies and skills; develop and implement training as needed. 6. Oversees internal and assists with external marketing, communication, and promotion of wellness programming efforts to maximize program participation. 7. Develop the annual department budget to support YMCA financial objectives, manage and implement the approved budget and take appropriate action to correct variances. 8. Analyze and produce statistical and financial data and use standard business mathematics to produce necessary department and board reports, determine pricing, and manage other necessary departmental systems. 9. Coordinates use of facilities and necessary schedules for group exercise and all health and wellness activities and events. Assist in maintaining equipment and facilities. Purchases equipment, parts and supplies as required. 10. Monitors daily operations to adhere to all YMCA health and safety standards and policies. 11. Responsible for collaborating with department directors to promote participation and education regarding the benefits of programs offered in each individual department. 12. Participates in staff meetings and/or related meetings. 13. Adheres to personal and department goals and strategies. 14. Recruit and retain necessary volunteers to support department requirements. 15. Serves in a lead capacity for assigned community events and functions. 16. Dress in appropriate work attire as outlined in the Employee Dress Code, always wearing a nametag, and perform all duties in a safe and conscientious manner. 17. Adheres to all safe practices by following consumer‑boundary policies, adhering to procedures for supervising high‑risk activities, promptly reporting suspicious or inappropriate behavior or policy violations while maintaining strict confidentiality 18. Complete all required annual and bi-annual training requirements for child abuse prevention, anti-harassment, and updated policies. 19. Keep all required certifications current. 20. Drive the vision and strategic path of the mYfit app including: how to develop mYfit, grow and market, measure key performance indicators, manage content and improve user experience. grow subscribers, enhance user functionality, create engaging and accurate fitness content. 21. Dress in appropriate work attire as outlined in the Employee Dress Code, always wearing a nametag, and perform all duties in a safe and conscientious manner. 22. Adheres to all safe practices by following consumer‑boundary policies, adhering to procedures for supervising high‑risk activities, promptly reporting suspicious or inappropriate behavior or policy violations while maintaining strict confidentiality 23. Complete all required annual and bi-annual training requirements for child abuse prevention, anti-harassment, and updated policies. 24. Keep all required certifications current.

QUALIFICATIONS
1. Bachelor degree in Health and Human Performance or equivalent 2. 5 years supervising in a management role in a health and wellness environment 3. Personal training or Group instructor certification 4.
Required certifications:
CPR, First Aid, AED, Red Woods Child Abuse Prevention, national certification (ACE, NETA, AFAA, NASM) in Personal Training or an approved certification by the Health & Wellness Coordinator and Director. 5. YMCA Healthy Lifestyles certification within 1 year of hire. 6. At least one year of experience in Personal Training preferred.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
1. Visual and auditory ability to respond to critical situations and physical ability to act swiftly in an emergency. 2. Ability to perform all physical aspects of the position; including walking, standing, bending, kneeling, leaning, reaching and lifting. 3. Ability to plan, lead and participate in a range of activities in a variety of outdoor/indoor settings. 4. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with the unique challenges of a non-profit community service organization. 5. Ability to interact with a diversity of people and various levels of personnel using sound judgment on ambiguous issues. 6. Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously. $50,000.00•$65,000.00 per year
