Job Description

The Phyllis J. Washington College of Education invites applications for an Assistant Director of Clinical Experiences . This position oversees clinical placement operations, including eligibility review, documentation management, background check compliance, candidate readiness processes, and communication with K-12 school partners. Serving as a key resource for faculty, candidates, and district personnel, the Assistant Director provides guidance on clinical experience requirements and educator preparation policies while supporting continuous program improvement through data management, training and orientation activities, and stakeholder collaboration. Reporting to the Director of Clinical Experiences, the position exercises substantial independent judgment and autonomy to ensure compliance with institutional, state, and accreditation requirements. Coordinate and administer early clinical experiences across educator licensure programs, managing the full lifecycle of placements from identification and eligibility verification through completion and progression tracking. Review and verify candidate eligibility, including background check compliance and documentation requirements, and determine readiness for advancement into student teaching. Serve as the primary student contact for clinical experiences, providing guidance on placement processes, documentation requirements, program policies, and resolution of placement-related issues. Collaborate with faculty, university supervisors, mentor teachers, and K-12 school partners to coordinate placements, maintain partnerships, and ensure appropriate placement matches. Manage clinical placement data systems and records, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and integrity of documentation to support accreditation, reporting, and continuous program improvement. Develop and facilitate student orientations and training activities, while managing operational workflows related to clinical placements, student teaching applications, and program exceptions. Administer operational and financial processes associated with clinical experiences, including stipends, continuing education credits, professional development tracking, awards, and travel reimbursement coordination. Maintain partnership agreements and program records, exercising independent judgment to resolve complex placement and compliance issues while ensuring adherence to institutional, state, and accreditation requirements. Bachelor's degree. Experience in K-12 schools. Knowledge of administrative processes such as data tracking, documentation review, and record management. Strong written and verbal communication skills with diverse stakeholder groups including candidates, faculty, and K-12 partners. Ability to organize, prioritize, and complete multiple tasks with accuracy and attention to detail. Ability to interpret policies, follow established procedures, and ensure compliance with program requirements. Ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, and manage sensitive information with confidentiality. Preferred Qualifications Understanding of the basic structures of educator preparation programs or clinical practice standards. Experience in coordinating clinical placements, internships, or similar experiential learning programs. Experience maintaining data systems used for compliance tracking, accreditation reporting, or program evaluation. Demonstrated ability to manage complex workflows, solve operational challenges, and support high-volume academic or student-facing processes Position is full-time, 1.0 FTE, MUS Contract and includes a comprehensive and competitive benefits package including insurance package, mandatory retirement plan, partial tuition waiver, and wellness program.
