Job Description

Maintains a high level of attention to detail and accuracy, coupled with strong customer service and interpersonal skills. Displays enthusiasm for engaging with both internal and external constituents and consistently fosters positive relationships with students, staff, and stakeholders. Possesses excellent time management and organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize responsibilities effectively and proactively plan for upcoming situations and challenges. Projects a professional image through punctuality, clear and persuasive communication, and sensitivity when interacting with others. Consistently supports and advances the aims, objectives, goals, and mission of the College. The Director of Allied Health Programs is responsible for the administration and support of the College's non-credit Allied Health programs. These responsibilities include initial certification classes and continuing education for medical professionals, classes for individuals that wish to pursue registration as a nurse aide or phlebotomist, and specialty continuing education classes for related health care professionals.
Essential job duties include:
teaching, hiring, training, and assisting instructors in allied health programs. Maintain working relationships with the NC Department of Health and Human Services and NC Board of Nursing to determine the training content are met according to standards. Manages and oversees every aspect of program development and maintenance. Actively recruits students to the program. Provides demonstrated evidence of retention effort for the program. Hires, supervises and evaluates adjunct instructors for the program. Submits a schedule for all course work for each enrollment period. Submits accurate records to the appropriate college entities. Oversees the evaluation and ordering of textbooks for coursework that falls within the program area. Participates in professional development and other relevant activities. Serves as the primary planning leader for his/her programmatic area. Actively engages and maintains an external advisory committee for the program which he/she oversees. Oversees and coordinates advising for his/her programmatic area. Keeps an advisee record for ALL active advisees. Manages budget for his/her area in a timely fashion. Performs internal audits of the program's progress and needs on a timely basis. Attends state, national and local meetings geared toward program's growth and enhancement. Keeps program curriculum competitive and up to date. Participates in college-wide committees and functions. Provides positive feedback on student success within the program to the administration and fosters positive alumnae relationships between graduates and the college. Performs all additional duties as set forth by the Dean of Continuing Education, the Vice President of Workforce and Institutional Advancement, and the President. Associate Degree in Nursing required. Current, unencumbered North Carolina RN license with at least 2 years of work experience (4000 hours) as a registered nurse At least one year (2000 hours) of RN experience in the provision of long term care facility services demonstrated by: working in a long term care facility licensed as a skilled nursing facility or a skilled nursing facility which is a distinct part of a hospital, OR supervising or teaching students in a long term care facility licensed as a skilled nursing facility or a skilled nursing facility which is a distinct part of a hospital.
