What We're Looking For:
Education:
High School Diploma or GED, required.
Experience:
One year of clerical experience in medical office setting, required. Other related experience may be considered in lieu of medical office experience.
Additional skills required:
Knowledge of medical office software for the following: updating patient demographic information, posting charges, copays, and scheduling patient appointments. Requires excellent verbal communication skills. Must be able to work with changing priorities. Requires excellent organizational, problem solving and critical thinking skills. Must be able to interact with individuals of all cultures and levels of authority. Requires the ability to maintain confidentiality. Must be able to function as part of a team. Must possess initiative. Basic medical terminology required, knowledge can be obtained through formal classes or work experience. High level of working knowledge of EPIC systems. Detailed knowledge of multiple payors billing requirements. Familiarity of coding requirements for practice specialty.
Additional skills preferred:
Proficient in use of all computer software utilized in practice.
What You'll Do:
Provides exceptional front desk and patient registration support by welcoming patients professionally, verifying and updating demographic and insurance information, obtaining required documentation and signatures, and collecting copays or other patient balances accurately. Supports efficient patient flow through scheduling, check-in, and check-out functions, including follow-up appointment scheduling, insurance reverification, charge review, payment posting, daily close processes, and reconciliation of cash and other payments. Performs Epic work queue and revenue cycle support activities, including charge review, claim edits, follow-up, missing guarantor research, and denial correction to promote timely and accurate charge capture. Partners with providers, coders, and revenue cycle teams to resolve billing and insurance issues and responds professionally to related patient or staff inquiries. Provides general clerical and administrative support by answering telephones, routing calls, documenting messages, filing records, and assisting with other office support duties as needed. Cross-trains across administrative functions to maintain clinic operations and continuity. Promotes a collaborative, patient-centered environment through clear communication, teamwork, participation in meetings and process improvement efforts, and consistent demonstration of service excellence, professionalism, sound judgment, and organizational values.
