Job Description

General Job Summary Responsible for answering and triaging telephone calls, scheduling patient appointments, and routing messages as appropriate. Adheres to Burke Primary Care policies and procedures to ensure the delivery of high quality patient care.
Education/Professional Experience/Skills Required:
High school diploma or equivalent. Minimum one year of medical office experience. Understanding of medical terminology. Customer service phone skills. Prior medical office experience preferred. Bilingual candidates are strongly encouraged to apply. Work Environment Medical office environment, minimal risk of exposure to potentially infectious diseases associated with healthcare setting.
Essential Job Responsibilities General:
Answer incoming phone calls, greet callers in polite, professional manner Schedule patient appointments according to each provider's scheduling guidelines, enter patient demographic information into the electronic medical record as required Record and route messages to medical assistants or other staff to minimize interruption to provider/patient process flow Confirm patient appointments to minimize no-shows Proactively manage assigned provider schedule to fill empty slots, reschedule patients, etc.

Maintain clean and organized work area Maintain adequate office supply levels Perform routine maintenance on administrative equipment
Organizational:
Respect and promote patient rights Recognize and respond to emergency situations Demonstrate individual initiative and responsibility as part of the healthcare team Comply with organizational standards for safety, compliance, and risk management Attend departmental meetings as required Perform other duties as assigned by departmental supervisor, Practice Manager or provider
