Job Description

Grafton County Department of Corrections is seeking an experienced and compassionate Registered Nurse to serve as our Medical Coordinator . This leadership position is responsible for the overall administration, supervision, and coordination of nursing and medical services within the correctional facility. The Medical Coordinator plays a critical role in ensuring the delivery of high-quality healthcare services to inmates while maintaining compliance with professional nursing standards, Department of Corrections policies, and applicable state and federal regulations. Key Responsibilities Provide leadership and direct supervision of nursing and medical services. Ensure quality inmate healthcare and compliance with physician orders, nursing standards, and correctional healthcare requirements. Supervise, schedule, mentor, and evaluate nursing staff. Review inmate medical records, intake assessments, watch records, and treatment plans. Coordinate responses to medical, mental health, and substance use concerns. Assist with budget planning and recommendations for medical equipment and capital expenditures. Participate in management, safety, and quality assurance initiatives. Develop and maintain effective communication systems, reports, and documentation. Assist with staff training and professional development. Maintain awareness of current trends and best practices in correctional healthcare. Provide direct patient care as needed, including medication administration, blood draws, and shift coverage. Advises the Superintendent and functions as a member of the command leadership team.
Qualifications Required:
Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of New Hampshire. Bachelor's degree in Nursing or a related healthcare field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Seven to ten years of progressively responsible nursing experience. Prior supervisory or management experience. Acute care nursing experience. Strong knowledge of triage principles, substance use disorders, detoxification practices, communicable diseases, and mental health issues.
Preferred:
ICU, Emergency Room, and Psych nursing experience. Previous correctional healthcare experience. Ideal Candidate The successful candidate will possess: Strong leadership and team-building skills. A genuine interest in inmate healthcare, rehabilitation, and public service. Working Environment Work is performed primarily within a correctional facility setting.
