Full Job Description Summary:
The Precertification Team is responsible for obtaining prior authorizations and ensuring insurance approval for diagnostic testing such as MRIs and CTs. The team serves as a liaison between patients, providers, and insurance companies to secure timely approvals, prevent denials, and support smooth patient care.
Key Responsibilities:
Verify patient insurance coverage. Obtain prior authorizations and pre-certifications from insurance carriers. Accurately document all communications, approvals, and reference numbers in the patient's medical record. Communicate authorization status with providers, clinical staff, and patients. Follow up with insurance companies to ensure pending authorizations are processed. Collaborate with front desk, billing, and clinical teams to reduce delays and denials. Maintain knowledge of insurance requirements, medical necessity criteria, and policy updates. Escalate urgent cases appropriately to avoid interruptions in patient care. Utilize EMR system E-Clinical Works (ECW)
