Job Title:
Patient Care Coordinator Job Description The Patient Care Coordinator provides both patient care and front office support in a hospital setting, ensuring every patient and visitor receives courteous, timely, and professional service. This role combines direct interaction with patients, coordination of front desk activities, and support of financial and administrative processes, all while adhering to HIPAA guidelines and established office policies. The position offers opportunities for growth within a large hospital system and does not require weekend work. Responsibilities Receive and direct all communication courteously and consistently, following HIPAA guidelines and office policies at all times. Answer phone calls quickly, route them appropriately, and ensure messages reach the correct team members in a timely manner. Greet patients and visitors promptly in a courteous, friendly, and helpful manner, using direct eye contact and a welcoming demeanor to make them feel valued and important. Assist patients with the sign-in process and respond promptly to their needs and questions. Support financial responsibilities by staying up to date on reimbursement and billing procedures and applying them accurately in daily work. Accurately verify information on the Audit Journal and ensure records are complete and correct. Prepare bank deposits and credit card batches, and sign and date completed daily cash receipts in accordance with office procedures. Monitor general office supply inventory and equipment, working with team members to understand and fulfill their supply needs. Adapt quickly to changing patient needs and maintain a strong sense of accountability for improving the lives of patients and their caregivers. Collaborate closely with colleagues, demonstrating an exceptional focus on teamwork and a commitment to delivering high-quality care. Participate in ongoing education and training to maintain and improve knowledge and skills relevant to patient care and office operations. Travel to various locations as needed to support patient care and front office functions. Essential Skills Minimum of 1+ year of relevant experience in patient care and front office or a strong hospital externship. Experience providing both patient care and front office support in a healthcare or hospital environment. Strong patient-facing skills, including the ability to greet and assist patients and visitors in a friendly, professional, and respectful manner. Work Environment This role is based in a hospital setting within a large, established healthcare system that offers significant room for professional growth, including opportunities within a modern facility such as a dedicated patient care tower. The schedule does not include weekend work, supporting a balanced work-life routine. The position may require travel between various locations within the organization. The work involves frequent interaction with patients, visitors, and clinical staff in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment that emphasizes high-quality patient care and continuous learning. The dress code requires scrubs and closed-toe shoes. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Paramus, NJ. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $23.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
