Job Description
MAJOR FUNCTION
Under the supervision of the Manager of Quality and Patient Safety, ensures the timeliness and overall quality and completeness of all medical record documentation in accordance with Inspira LIFE policies and procedures, all accrediting organizations and state as well as federal rules and regulations. This position supports assigned applications for clinical, administrative, and financial information systems, to include building, testing, validating, troubleshooting, maintenance, and problem resolution. The position plays a key role in maintenance and enhancement of the HIM functions of the various electronic medical record (EMR) software applications, providing clerical expertise, workflow process documentation and support and ongoing training and support for staff using the EMR. This position functions as a bridge between Health Information Management, the Interdisciplinary Team and contracted providers to promote timely documentation exchange and compliance with regulatory standards. Functions as part of the Quality and Patient Safety team by providing support with quality initiatives and projects. Supports compliance activities through collaboration with the Vice President of Corporate Compliance for Inspira Health and the Manager of Quality, Patient Safety and Regulatory Compliance. As a multisite provider of PACE community-based services for seniors in Cumberland, Gloucester and Salem Counties, an Inspira LIFE employee may work at either or both the Vineland or Williamstown LIFE Program as census changes or operational needs occur to meet the needs of our participants.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education & Experience:
Bachelor's Degree in HIM, Management or Computer Science required. Other degrees or related coursework considered based on relevant work experience. A Minimum of 1 year working with the frail elderly is preferred. Previous experience with electronic MPI, HIE, patient registration and billing, and clinical system processes required. Strong knowledge of Health Information Management functions. Working knowledge of computer systems and programs (including MS Word, Excel and Adobe products). Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills with all levels of staff Knowledge of policy and procedure development. Ability to develop training materials.
Certification/ Licensure:
RHIT Required RHIA or CPHQ certification preferred.
