Job Description

Southwest Labs is looking for a highly organized and detail-oriented Clinical Accessioning Supervisor to lead and oversee our accessioning team in a fast-paced clinical laboratory setting. The ideal candidate will ensure the timely and accurate receipt, labeling, and processing of clinical specimens, while maintaining adherence to strict quality standards and regulatory guidelines. This role requires strong leadership skills, excellent communication, and the ability to work collaboratively across departments to ensure seamless laboratory operations. Essential Duties:
  • Supervise the daily operations of the clinical accessioning department, including the receipt, labeling, and data entry of patient samples.
  • Ensure all samples are properly handled, documented, and entered into the Laboratory Information System (LIS) with accuracy and efficiency.
  • Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with all laboratory policies, safety guidelines, and regulatory requirements, including HIPAA and
COLA/CLIA.
  • Monitor workflow to ensure timely sample processing and troubleshoot issues that may arise during accessioning.
  • Collaborate with the laboratory management team to improve processes, resolve problems, and implement operational improvements.
  • Coordinate staffing schedules and oversee time and attendance, ensuring adequate coverage to meet operational demands.
  • Perform quality control checks and audits to ensure accuracy and compliance with SOPs.
  • Liaise with other laboratory departments (e.g., sales, toxicology) to address issues related to specimen quality, requisition errors, or testing delays.
  • Prepare and submit reports on accessioning performance, including metrics related to turnaround time, errors, and productivity.
  • Assist in the implementation of new software systems and technologies to enhance accessioning efficiency.
Qualifications:
v Bachelor's degree in a life science or related field (preferred). ü Minimum of 3 years of experience in a clinical laboratory setting, with at least 1 year in a supervisory role. ü Knowledge of laboratory accessioning procedures and familiarity with clinical specimens such as blood, urine, and swabs. ü Experience with Laboratory Information Systems (LIS) and proficiency in data entry. ü Strong leadership and team management skills with the ability to train and motivate staff. ü Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills. ü Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks with competing deadlines. ü Knowledge of regulatory standards (CLIA, CAP, HIPAA) and best practices in clinical laboratory operations. ü Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams.
Pay:
$40,917.00 - $55,000.00 per year
