Job Description

Director of Surgical Services - Grants, NM Medical Edge Recruitment is seeking an experienced Director of Surgical Services for a Critical Access Hospital in Grants, New Mexico. This leadership role is ideal for a strong perioperative nurse leader with experience overseeing OR, PACU, and sterile processing operations in a hospital setting. Salary $133,000 - $183,821 annually Position Summary The Director of Surgical Services is responsible for the overall leadership, strategic direction, and operational management of surgical services, including the Operating Room (OR), Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU), and Sterile Processing Department. This role ensures high-quality, safe, and efficient patient care while maintaining regulatory compliance and optimizing departmental performance. Responsibilities Oversee daily operations of the OR, PACU, and sterile processing Provide leadership in staffing, recruitment, onboarding, and staff development Ensure safe, efficient, and compliant surgical workflows Manage surgical scheduling, block time, and resource utilization Oversee surgical supply chain, inventory control, and cost management Develop and manage departmental budgets and capital planning Maintain strong relationships with surgeons, anesthesia providers, and hospital leadership Lead quality improvement, patient safety, infection prevention, and regulatory compliance initiatives Ensure readiness for emergency and trauma surgical cases Collaborate with Chief Nursing Officer and executive leadership on operational goals Qualifications Current RN license in New Mexico or Compact State license BLS and ACLS required; PALS and CNOR preferred Minimum 3-5 years of recent OR experience (scrubbing and circulating required) Prior leadership or management experience in perioperative or surgical services required Strong knowledge of sterile processing standards and surgical supply management Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills Apply today to learn more about this leadership opportunity in Grants, New Mexico.
