Job Description
Job Overview We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Clinical Lead Provider to support the department's mission and provide leadership in delivering high-quality, patient-centered care within Jemez Health & Human Services ambulatory care services. This position oversees assigned clinical personnel and promotes excellence in clinical operations, patient care, and team collaboration. The Clinical Lead Provider is responsible for the day-to-day operations of acute and primary care services, including coordinating clinical workflows, implementing medical policies and programs, and promoting efficient, standardized delivery of care. This role ensures effective communication of organizational updates and directives from the Executive Director and Medical Director to clinical staff while supporting the consistent application of clinical guidance, protocols, and best practices. In addition to leadership responsibilities, the Clinical Lead Provider delivers direct patient care by providing comprehensive primary care services and serving as a clinical resource and mentor to healthcare staff. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong clinical judgment, leadership skills, and a commitment to improving the health and well-being of the community. Duties Approximately 70% of the position is dedicated to direct patient care, delivered through both primary care and acute care clinic schedules, providing comprehensive, lifespan-focused primary care services. Evaluates, diagnoses, and manages acute and chronic conditions using evidence-based practice, including interpretation of history, exams, and diagnostic results. Orders appropriate laboratory and imaging studies and coordinated timely referrals to specialty care when indicated. Prescribes medications and develops treatment plans, including patient education on medications, risks, and lifestyle modifications. Promotes patient education and preventive care, including chronic diseases management and health lifestyle counseling. Seeks consultation when cases fall outside scope of practice or require additional clinical expertise. Collaborates with the interdisciplinary care team to support continuity of care, including coverage support, refill requests, referral follow-up, and EHR notification management. Maintains professional standards, licensure, board certification, DEA requirements and all credentialing and privileging requirements. Qualifications Minimum of two (2) years of experience working as a provider in a relevant clinical practice such as an outpatient primary care or acute/urgent care setting. M.D. or D.O. from an accredited medical school and three (3) years of residency, with current valid and unrestricted state medical license OR N.P. or P.A. with current valid and unrestricted state medical license and a master's or higher level education in healthcare administration or leadership with one (1) year or greater of leadership or supervisory experience in similar position. Knowledge of medical documentation standards, ICD coding (ICD-10/ICD-9), HIPAA regulations, and medical terminology. Demonstrated ability to lead clinical teams effectively while fostering a positive work environment. Excellent skills in patient assessment, diagnostic evaluation, case management, and both individual/group psychotherapy. Experience working within hospital settings or community-based programs is highly desirable. Certifications in CPT coding or related billing practices are advantageous. Ability to manage crisis situations efficiently while maintaining composure under pressure.
