Job Description

Overview We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Dental Treatment Coordinator to join our dental practice. The ideal candidate will serve as a vital link between patients and the clinical team, managing patient scheduling, treatment plans, insurance verifications, and medical documentation. This role requires excellent communication skills, proficiency with dental and medical electronic health record (EHR) systems, and a solid understanding of dental terminology and medical coding. Bilingual abilities are a plus to effectively serve diverse patient populations. The Treatment Coordinator will ensure smooth office operations while delivering exceptional patient service in a fast-paced environment. Duties Coordinate patient appointments, treatment plans, and follow-up care using Open Dental Software. Verify insurance benefits, process claims, and handle billing. Review and update medical records ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations and accurate documentation review. Assist patients with intake procedures, explaining treatment options, and addressing questions related to procedures and billing. Manage front desk responsibilities including multi-line phone systems, patient check-in/out, appointment scheduling, and maintaining accurate patient records. Perform insurance verification and pre-authorizations for procedures involving Medicare or other insurance providers. Maintain knowledge of dental terminology, ICD coding, and medical billing practices to support accurate documentation and coding. Support office management tasks such as filing, data entry etc. Provide exceptional patient service by demonstrating professionalism with phone etiquette and fostering a welcoming environment. Requirements Proven experience in dental office management or as a dental receptionist with familiarity in dental clinic operations. Strong knowledge of Open Dental Software. Familiarity with medical coding including
CPT, ICD-9/10
codes; experience with medical billing and insurance verification is preferred. Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and health information management practices to ensure confidentiality and compliance. Excellent computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) and typing accuracy (10 key typing). Strong organizational skills with the ability to review documentation thoroughly and manage multiple tasks efficiently. Bilingual abilities are highly desirable to enhance communication with diverse patient populations. Previous clinic or hospital experience is preferred; dental office experience is a significant plus. Exceptional customer service skills combined with professional phone etiquette in handling multi-line phone systems.
