The Director of Advanced Practice Providers serves as a liaison between hospital administration and the medical staff to address the promote, advance and delineate the role of APPs within Albany Medical Center. The Director of Advanced Practice Providers is responsible for the leadership and oversight of nurse practitioners, physician assistants and other APPs within Albany Medical center. The Director of Advanced Practice Providers is tasked with the administrative functional and organizational components of APP practice for the institution. This involves multidisciplinary collaboration with all elements of Albany Medical Center Hospital. Core responsibilities include implementing policies/procedures, managing workforce resources to ensure optimal staffing and establishing/monitoring performance standards. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Acts as Chief APP Acts as administrative liaison between the Office of Medical Affairs, leadership of the hospital, nursing staff and medical staff to promote, advance, and increase the critical role APPs play in the Albany Medical Center. Creates and implements hospital policies regarding APP practice in conjunction with department leadership. Reviews hospital bylaws to ensure APP delineation is appropriate and beneficial. Coordinates and leads all APP leadership/steering committee meetings. Scope of Practice Ensures scope of practice of all APPs and prescriptive practice guidelines are accurate and in compliance with federal, state and hospital regulations to allow APPs to practice at the top of their license. Credentialing and Requirements Acts as a member of the Credentialing Committee. Works with Credentialing committee and medical staff leadership to create and maintain APP specific standards relative to appointment and reappointment. Aligns APP Delineation of Privileges (DOPs) with specific services DOPs. Assesses and manages the introduction of any new or potential APP privileges. Works with the departments to ensure all components of credentialing and CME for staff APPs are up to date for regulatory compliance. Works with the departments to ensure completion of all appropriate licensure and regulatory requirements. Recruitment and Retention Assists with the strategy for recruiting and retention of APPs in conjunction with appropriate institutional personnel. Collaborates with departments to create standard pathways for APP student educational opportunities and rotations. Onboarding and Orientation Works with departments to develop standard onboarding and orientation pathways. Peer Review and Performance Fosters an environment of collegiality and professionalism among the staff APPs and colleagues. Assists with the development of standard periodic performance evaluation methods for APPs including OPPE and FPPE. Works with department leadership/HR to oversee any required support, coaching, remediation, and/or corrective action of staff APPs. Professional Advancement Models Advances along Professional Advancement Models and Academic Advancement Models. Creates standard efforts and pathways for APPs seeking professional academic advancement. Share available CME opportunities, research opportunities, other academic opportunities. Medical Records, Billing & Compliance Works with the departments to ensure APP medical record completion. Works with billing compliance and department leadership to ensure the billing and compliance according to government regulations and department standards. ERP/EHR Advisement Advise ERP/EHR realization as it relates to all APP measures in relation to documentation, ordering and performance. Committee Expertise Act as a key APP representative on committees dealing with APPs or as part of the Office of Medical Affairs, including but not limited to the Medical Executive Committee and the Credentialing Committee. Provides updates to the Medical Executive Committee and other bodies as necessary. Assists with quality assurance programs as needed to help implement quality improvement efforts. Participates in department specific and hospital committees as needed to help implement strategic efforts. Act as Medical Director On-Call You may be asked to participate in the Medical Director on-call schedule with the Medical Director and other Associate Medical Directors of Albany Medical Center. Perform all duties as expected as that of an On-Call Medical Director. Qualifications Master's Degree may include Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) or a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) or a Master of Science or Doctorate in PA studies
